Atop mount Emei, one of four sacred buddhist mountains in China, a couple or two friends seal their partnership for eternity by locking a padlock on the summit and then throwing the keys in to the abys. / the locks then remain forevermore, and even though their names have rusted off, they will be permanently joined in eternity.

The Dance by Oriah Mountain Dreamer I have sent you my invitation, / the note inscribed on the palm of my hand by the fire of living. / Don’t jump up and shout, “Yes, this is what I want! Let’s do it!” / Just stand up quietly and dance with me. Show me how you follow your deepest desires, / spiralling down into the ache within the ache. / And I will show you how I reach inward and open outward / to feel the kiss of the Mystery, sweet lips on my own, everyday. Don’t tell me you want to hold the whole world in your heart. / Show me how you turn away from making another wrong without abandoning yourself when you are hurt and afraid of being unloved. Tell me a story of who you are, / And see who I am in the stories I am living. / And together we will remember that each of us always has a choice. Don’t tell me how wonderful things will be . . . some day. / Show me you can risk being completely at peace, / truly OK with the way things are right now in this moment, / and again in the next and the next and the next. . . I have heard enough warrior stories of heroic daring. / Tell me how you crumble when you hit the wall, / the place you cannot go beyond by the strength of your own will. / What carries you to the other side of that wall, / to the fragile beauty of your own humanness? And after we have shown each other how we have set and kept the clear, healthy boundaries that help us live side by side with each other, let us risk remembering that we never stop silently loving those we once loved out loud. Take me to the places on the earth that teach you how to dance, the places where you can risk letting the world break your heart. / And I will take you to the places where the earth beneath my feet and the stars overhead make my heart whole again and again. Show me how you take care of business / without letting business determine who you are. / When the children are fed but still the voices within and around us shout that soul’s desires have too high a price, / let us remind each other that it is never about the money. Show me how you offer to your people and the world / the stories and the songs you want our children’s children to remember, and I will show you how I struggle / not to change the world, but to love it. Sit beside me in long moments of shared solitude, / knowing both our absolute aloneness and our undeniable belonging. Dance with me in the silence and in the sound of small daily words, holding neither against me at the end of the day. And when the sound of all the declarations of our sincerest / intentions has died away on the wind, dance with me in the infinite pause before the next great inhale of the breath that is breathing us all into being, not filling the emptiness from the outside or from within. Don’t say, “Yes!” / Just take my hand and dance with me.

I spotted this couple having their photoshoot when I was about at least a clear 70m away. Snapped it and converted it with some blur to the background while keeping the couple sharp. Love how their height is set against the relatively gigantic pillars

This is a picture of our wedding rings – they are a little scratched and worn after 2 and a half years but I think this symbolises the work and commitment that goes into every successful marriage – each little scratch is like a reminder and a bit of character within our relationship that we can build on and become even stronger together. Marriages should be lasting – but you will only get from it what you put in….

Marriage or wedlock is an interpersonal relationship with governmental, social, or religious recognition. It is often created as a contract or through civil processes. Civil marriage is the legal concept of marriage as a governmental institution. / The most common form of marriage unites one man and one woman as husband and wife. Other forms of marriage also exist: for example, polygamy in which a person takes more than one spouse is common in many societies. In some jurisdictions civil marriage has been expanded to include same-sex marriage. / People marry for many reasons, but usually one or more of the following: legal, social and economic stability; the formation of a family unit; procreation and the education and nurturing of children; legitimizing sexual relations; public declaration of love; or to obtain citizenship.

I’m not ‘just’ a housewife / and it hurts me inside / when you say I’m nothing / but a ‘housewife’. / / I’m not married to a house / and I’m not ‘just’ a wife. / I’m much more than the word / ‘just’ a housewife implies. I’m a lover, a sweetheart / and a mother besides. / I’m a doctore, a nurse, a friend / and more than money can buy. So, why can’t you see, / oh why don’t you realize / just where you would be / without me in your life? Sure, I’m a cook and a maid / and a mistress day or night. / So, please never again tell me / I’m ‘just’ a housewife. amari / ______ I wrote this poem many years ago when I was married to a man who only saw the world between his legs. I have since moved on and have gained strength by overcoming. I am very glad to be away from that and will not be treated like that anymore. I publish it now to share with others and hopefully open the eyes of men and women so that this world can be a better place for both. God created woman from a man’s rib that she should be a part of him to be treated as he would want to be treated if he is of a sane mind. When the woman loses sight of her value, then she is of no use to anyone and therin lies the fall of society as well. Every human being needs to be treated with love and respect or the end result is chaos…what we have going on in our world today. / ________ This poem inspried the artwork presented here. The image was created with Photoshop CS3 using about 25 layers and multiple editing to accomplish the results. / _______ Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain.
