This is another of my favourites. I can’t remember the exact date I painted it… it was roughly January or February of 2006. I used acrylic on cardboard (but HOW I used it is a secret!), approximately 63cm x 51cm. “Memories of Springtime” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © Flowering native grasses. “And Spring arose on the garden fair, / Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere; / And each flower and herb on Earth’s dark breast / rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.” / ~Percy Bysshe Shelley

I was wrapping a gift and pulled a page out of an old calendar and used YELLOW ribbon to tighten the packaging. I thought it had a nice ARTSY feel, so I decided to share the concept here as I thought it would make an ideal ‘greeting card’ or ‘print’ too. A yellow ribbon is a symbol with various meanings, mostly associated with those waiting for the return of a loved one or of military troops who are temporarily unable to come home.

Model – Red Bubble’s very own beloved Miss T Shot on location at the soon to be defunct Bond Lounge Bar in Melbourne’s CBD, this shoot was only a success because of Teer’s tireless efforts to find me a location and organise everything on the day, being that I live in Adelaide and know F-all about Melbourne’s spots. / So all praise must go to her for being not only drop dead gorgeous, but a fabulous little organiser to boot.
