Louisville, Kentucky USA 21 April 2008 10:06 PM EST This shot was NOT easy due to another photographer trying to take this same night shot using a flash. From this vantage point, the city is one mile away. He ruined 5 of my long exposures with his flash. Finally, I politely ask him to please let me get one good shot. / MCN: C30-NP3U-4430
“Often it is the most deserving people who cannot help loving those who destroy them.” / / -Herman Hesse / I’ve decided that I’m going to enter this (edited today) into a contest next month to try to win a new 10 MP Samsung camera. No, I won’t ask you to go vote for me, or even reveal the name of the other site. (out of respect for RB) But-I will challenge you to come up with an interesting title for this! Titles are very important to me, and I think a strong title sets the stage for presentation, etc. The chosen title will be used for the contest entry & I’ll post a link to your RB page here crediting you with the title regardless of if I win or not. Sound fair? Good. Let the titling begin! And don’t be afraid to be “out there” with your creativity. ;) Thanks! / -Birgitta / / (downtown Louisville, Kentucky/USA) (ends October 31, 2008-chosen title will be announced Nov. 1st) / WINNER: Paul Tupman / TITLE: “They Said The Sun Would Shine” Thanks so much everybody for participating, and your comments. They’re much appreciated! And special thanks to you Paul. I adore long titles & anything to do with the sun-but you didn’t know that! Great title. :) I’m entering this shortly into the contest and I’ll give you full credit for the title, as well as link your Redbubble profile page in my contest entry. :) / http://www.soaphoto.com/contest/gallery/gallery.asp
This was taken at the Thunder Over Louisville fireworks show, which is part of the Kentucky Derby festival. At first I was annoyed that these guys were standing in the way…for most of the fireworks, it wasn’t a problem, but when they did the burning cascades over the bridge, they were right there…oy! Now I’m glad they were there…what are your thoughts? Thanks for looking! Here’s a link to their site if you’d like to learn more: / http://www.thunderoverlouisville.org/ This image was recently chosen for publication in this book: / Capture Kentuckiana / /
Dare to wear red in a black and white world. Although the Louisville Cardinals is the home town college basketball team in Louisville, Kentucky USA, people are so rabid insane about University of Kentucky (located in Lexington Kentucky USA) that anyone wearing the Cardinal red colors (in stead of Wildcat blue) always get a second look. They say that in Kentucky, University of Kentucky Wildcats isn’t just about basketball, it’s a religion. / MCN:C27-LA6O-1752 SPECIAL EDITION PRINTS CLICK HERE The red penguins along the building are a marketing tactic for the art gallery housed in the building. © 2008 All Rights Reserved

Designer of famous Central Park in NYC, Olmsted was given an entire series of parks to design in Louisville, Kentucky. Louisville’s park system was the last designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and one of only five such systems across the country. Known nationally as the defining park system of his career, it stands today as one of his best-preserved works, reflecting the genius of Olmsted’s vision. In all, Olmsted and his successor firm developed plans for 18 parks and 6 parkways that today comprise Louisville’s historic park system. http://www.olmstedparks.org/

I made a mistake labeling this beautiful hawk as a Hawaiian Hawk. I was recently informed that this is actually Diana the Red-Tailed Hawk at the Louisville Zoo. Kalani is the Hawaiian Hawk and looks very similar, but if you follow this link, you can see the difference: / Hawks / I’m so sorry for the misunderstanding! / Thanks so much to Brad Nelson for helping me out! :) This image was recently published in this book: / Capture Kentuckiana / /
