  • A re-work of previously posted image. I love the work of Helene Kippert and PepperPepper – they both put a wonderful organic feel into their work. • This image came about in an awesome way for me. Two weeks earlier, the model, Margrit, was telling me a bit about her life. She’s lived and travelled in many countries and taken lots of opportunities. She has also achieved great success with her photography. Several weeks later, I had an unusual chance to photograph her in an old train – the perfect location to reflect her life’s journey. / In Australia, Margrit has achieved her LAPS and AAPS, and is the only West Australian women to received international photographic honours AFIAP. She’s a perfectionist and it shines through in her work. • Ever felt the heavy heart of saying goodbye? In love, in life, in death. Family, lovers, friends. An empty track and sad, sad heart. Whiteman Park, Swan Valley, Perth. When I found this little station, I found myself thinking of the work of two photographers: Don, an awesome photographer who loves trains! He does wonderful landscapes and other great work. He’s given me so much help over the past few years – a generous soul with a great eye for photography. Paul Louis Villani also leapt into my head. He has some incredible images of trains and train stations. While I wouldn’t even attempt to immitate his style, his work gives me so much inspiration, and got me thinking about how I would like to present this scene. My fav image of his is Still standing For enquires about canvas prints, or photographic prints larger than Redbubble options, please contact me via bubblemail

  • On the beach at sunrise on West Island, over looking Pulu Maria, Cocos Islands. / Arriving at the beach with the promise of another stunning day, my husband turned off the car key, reclined the seat and went back to sleep! • Tucked amongst the trees by the ocean, “The Shack” sums up the essence of the Cocos Islands for me. A hut for surfers, a deck chair in the shade, warm breeze, driftwood, surf and sand between my toes. Well maybe a few mozzies too! Here exists a culture hard to find elsewhere; one of respect, where you can leave your surfboard and towel and come back to it a day later, a month later. • Sunset and Coronas at “The Shack”, West Island, Cocos Islands. The kind of sunset you want to swim through – pastel water and sky – chasing the sun west. For enquires about canvas prints, or photographic prints larger than Redbubble options, please contact me via bubblemail

  • the lure of the ocean and horizon…..water, air, space, infinity. For enquires about canvas prints, or photographic prints larger than Redbubble options, please contact me via bubblemail

  • Oils on stretched canvas 1.02mx1.02m 2004 / Collection of the artist. This painting represents my interpretation of the Celtic Horse Goddess, Epona – a blending of the feminine within what appears to be a masculine horse, the woman’s silhouette in black combined with the white of the horse, yin & yang. Her hand & hair flow into the mane like tree roots, she is part of the earth, yet also the air – mythical, magical yet also a part of Mother Nature. Look on top of the mountain – for the snowline is in the shape of a horse lying on its side. My inspiration for this painting was my love of coloured horses, actually one of my own blue-eyed Paints. No two Paint Horses are alike, each has it’s own unique colour & pattern. Often where the hair colours meet the markings will have an outline which is known as a ‘watermark’. This one is grey – (black blended into white). In Paint Horse terms the above horse would be called a ‘splash white overo.’ This painting won a Highly Commended & two People’s Choice awards. / Featured in SIMPLY HORSES GROUP – December 2008 / Featured in THE DIVINE FEMININE GROUP – May 2009 / Top Ten in Elemental Goddess Challenge THE DIVINE FEMINE GROUP – May 2009 / Featured in ALL THOSE COLOURFUL PAINTS & PINTOS – June 2009 / Featured in OIL PAINTING GROUP – August 2009 / Top Ten in Most Creative Painted Ladies Challenge – PAINTED LADIES GROUP – September 2009

  • This is for Mike, one of the weather guys on the Cocos Islands. Everyday we would ask him what the forecast was, and everyday he would reply “Mostly fine, chance of a shower”! I guess this was the “chance of a shower” bit! Mike is a great guy with lots of wonderful stories from his time spent living all around Australia. • Pastel on black Canson paper 75cmx54cm 1999 / Collection of the artist This painting won several awards at shows & was also featured in a special exhibition at the Manning Regional Gallery ‘TRAPPINGS OF THE HORSE” (July 1999) / celebrating the finest craftwork & art associated with the Horse Industry in NSW. I had received an invitation from the / gallery to be part of the exhibition & I submitted two paintings- / this one & “Blazing Saddles.” The Tobiano Paint Horse can be any colour with white & refers to the location of the white markings. Head markings will usually be marked like a solid-coloured horse, either solid or having a blaze, stripe, race or star & snip. All four legs will be white, usually below the hocks & knees. Body markings are usually regular & distinct, often being oval or round patterns that extend down over the neck & chest giving the appearance of a shield. The Tobiano Paint will usually have the dark colour in one or both flanks & maybe either predominantly dark or white. • Elephant Rocks, William Bay National Park, Western Australia (near Denmark) This national park is one of my favourite places on Earth. I was lucky to visit recently with my sister, climbing around the rocks and beaches for hours. Only we had to share it with a few snakes that were making the most of the spring sunshine! Last Thursday (20 Nov) I was working on an oil painting commission in the morning & decided to paint a couple of small acrylics in the afternoon (as I needed some new work to take to the gallery by Saturday.) For some reason I was thinking of Skyhorse’s beautiful / Appaloosas & this little painting was one of the results. / There is a characteristic love heart on the pony somewhere. • Elephants Rocks, Denmark, Western Australia. For Beth, my twin-sis. Another image from one of my favourite places. The day of our visit, it amazed me how many people stood on the top of these rocks and then turned back to the carpark, missing the view of the rocks from this point and all the wonderful coastline around the corner. Still, that means we had it to ourselves!! For enquires about canvas prints, or photographic prints larger than Redbubble options, please contact me via bubblemail

  • Surely one of the most treasured spots to sit and watch as a new day breaks. Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada / July, 2009 Lake Louise, set in the Banff National Park in Canada is perhaps known as the Diamond of the Rockies for no other reason than its sheer beauty alone. Having arrived in Canada on the previous afternoon after a long trans-Atlantic flight, the idea to beat the effects of jet lag were adopted with a 3am alarm call and the chance to shoot Lake Louise in all its splendour at dawn. Following a 45 mins drive from Banff accompanied along the way with storms over the mountains lighting the otherwise black night sky, we arrived at Lake Louise in good time for sunrise. Some may know the lake as a bustling tourist spot with coaches coming and going throughout the day. Dropping off their cargo at the water’s edge to take in the majesty of Louise before whisking them off to a further destination all to the sound of clicking shutters and the gentle whir of digital handy-cams. For Claire and I the experience was to sit alone in silence; the only guests at Natures matinee performance… The dedication to early starts could not be better rewarded.

  • I’ve had a weekend of experimenting with this theme and this is my fave of the ones I did. This is encaustic wax. Background was done on the hotplate with a roller, then the rocks were put in with the iron while it was still on the hotplate (quite like working hot-on-hot) and the rest was done off th hotplate with the stylus and micro-tip.

  • It was a magical morning at Lake Louise. The sun was just coming up, clouds were moving in. Here the early sun rays hit the glacier and the clouds. A little later it got more cloudy and the sun light disappeared. / f/22, 10 sec, ISO 100, focal length 20 mm / Nikon D80 Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada Best viewed larger
