  • Lough Swilly, County Donegal, Ireland. An inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. / Fujifilm finepix s9600 and polariser filter A beautiful poem, kindly written for this image by my good friend, David Roman. Please visit David’s site and view his beautiful art. / David Roman “The sky lies there before our eyes the world is out there too. / All that I see is a bright new life with you beside me, my wife. / I look at you and say lets go and find a brand new world. / An you my ever thoughtful half say lets stay here, where we are. / We have a life just you an I and all that we have here. / Why venture out to look for more when all we need is here? / Look out my love what do you see out beyond your dreams. / Its you and I an all we need and thats not very far. / Just look at what you want to leave, will you find that in a far off land? / Will sky’s be filled with so much blue like sky’s before my eyes? / Will we have all that we need like we have right here. / Like comfort in the love of family an from all our friends? / Built on years of trust and tears you’d leave that my dear? / Or will we have to search for friends in a place unknown. / I dare not venture out to seek a better land than this, an leave our friends behind. / When all I need is you my love and all that we have here!”

  • It is a little know fact that the Jason and the Argonauts, those famous sailors of Greek mythology, once landed on the coast of Ireland. As they searched the world for the Golden Fleece, Jason was told by an unknown minstrel with a bit of a brogue, that Irish sheep are very easy to capture, being as the minute an oncoming car or truck appears on the horizon, said sheep promptly make themselves comfortable in the middle of the road. They refuse to move until shifted. Happy Days, thought Jason, if the Fleece is there, we’ll find it in no time; if not, we’ll be sure of a good Irish stew. / If you don’t believe me, look at this photo carefully. There is the mighty ship the Argo, bathing in the glow of an Irish sunset. The ship is from one of my own photos taken in Greece. It was cut out and merged with a sunset shot I took in Donegal. Levels and curves used to darken, and Orton effect applied.

  • in silent films they dance twinkletoe dances / in spite of director’s miscues / taking moments of midnight for granted / and the people of daytime for fools and they never ever will be / able to speak of the thoughts / running rings round their head, confusing their feet / tying their stomach in knots no applause at the black falling credits / in same silence the film was displayed / but more fool the public and critics / if they won’t see a masterpiece play turn the lights out when you should leave sir / and I thank you for staying behind / to acknowledge the actors, director / and filmcrew who gave their own time for the love of a film and a story / knowing no-one would care aside you / yet the moments of quietest glory / will be remembered, however few —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Location: Lough Neagh, near Belfast, N.
