Its all in the title. A field of Poppy’s not far from my parents home. Easily seen from my old bedroom. I discovered the field a bit late in terms of the poppy’s they had passed their best by the time I got to them. It still looks ok though. Many thanks for viewing. / Camera settings, what are they. Only joking, I don’t keep notes, I tend to shoot in aperture priority most often on a tripod at f22 but when I forget the tripod (almost always) It depends on the light. This was around f10 i think. / / / /
This wee boat sits in Cockenzie Harbour on the shores of the River Forth near Edinburgh in Scotland. I think its one of my best images to date. It was shot on a Nikon D70 which has since given up. I now shoot with a D200 but I do still miss my D70. I have another online portfolio at www.artwanted.com/robinbrown. I have some 275 images there at any one time. It will take me a wee while to get my Redbubble portfolio up to that number of images but then Rome wasn’t built in a day. / Thanks for viewing. /
Version number two, again the title is for fun & the colour is for Autumn. Both are intended purely for visual pleasure. / Many thanks / Robin /
Perpetual Time is meant to give the feeling that love conquers all. The stone is part of a wall in Edinburgh. Easter Road & Montrose Terrace area, I added this image of my niece. /
Its some roadside Poppies. I saw these as I was driving along a country road last year & stopped to take a few pictures. They seem to Poppy up everywhere. Mind you the outside lane of the busy M725 is possibly not the best place to stop & take pictures. Its the only four lane motorway on the Island of Auchterchuchty. Which caused a lot of controversy with the locals when it was built. / The Island of Auchterchty is only two miles long & three miles wide at its respective widest points. The Islanders had applied for a grant to build a community Hall but this had been refused on the grounds that there wasn’t a suitable road infrastructure to deal with the increased traffic flow in the area. Instead funds were provided to fund the construction of the new Hyper Link Motorway. This would speed up the traffic flow from the Field on the west corner of the Island to the field in the north corner. All good & well but the only motorised vehicle on the island is the post ,masters moped & as your all aware mopeds are not allowed on motorways. The Chief Constable said if he caught the post master on the motorway he would have no choice but to revoke his driving licence. This in turn would have caused the Chief of Police huge problems as he is also the post master. In fact he’s the only resident on the island so you can see this would have put him at a great disadvantage. Daisy the only cow on the island still uses the bridal way to make the trip between the two fields & the Post master has handed in his notice in protest. If you ever get a chance to visit Auchterchuchty say hello & tell him Robin sent you. TTFN / / / /
More Poppies with a touch of art to help them on their way. / / / /
This is a shot of the walkway that takes you over to Gullane Point in East Lothian. There is a lovely calm area of water that is populated by a few swans. Just a mile down the road to the east is Gullane, home of 3 wonderful gold courses.
An Atlantic Gannet on Bass Rock, off the coast of Scotland.
Been in an artistic mood lately & when I am in that frame of mind I like to experiment with some of my photographs. This is another experiment, inspired by Bluefinart. /
A view of the Bass Rock from the Auldhame area near Tantalon Castle East Lothian. Straight out of the camera, untouched. Only teasing; I added a bit of texture for fun. /
Red Sky at night Shepherds delight; red sky in the morning Shepherds warning. / Alternatively; Red sky at night shepherds house is on fire!!! / A little artistic licence & a touch of imagination. Intended as a canvas print but the choice is all yours. /

Bell’s Brae leading to Dean Village in Edinburgh, Scotland. Like most cities, Edinburgh started as a small town with lots of other towns and villages all around. Edinburgh has swallowed them all into its ever expanding boundaries. Dean Village is one of these. Few tourists know that 15 minutes away from Princes Street lies the secluded Dean Village on the Water of Leith. Once a successful milling community, the area was once associated with poverty and decay but the buildings have been turned into designer flats and the village is now a popular residential area. The name Dean means ‘deep valley’ as the village lies 30 meters below the rest of Edinburgh. This makes is quite unique and particularly tranquil considering it is virtually at the heart of Scotland’s Capital. There is a variety of architecture in Dean Village from the robust warehouses and mill buildings, the red sandstone cottage-style buildings to the more modern tenements of English influence. The Saunders Street Steps, on the Water of Leith walkway, Stockbridge, Edinburgh, Scotland. The steps lead up to Saunders Street which crosses the Water of Leith on the Saunders Street Bridge. Taken at North Berwick old pier again looking towards Craigleith. One of my fav spots here as always a different shoot depending on the tide and sea state. 1 minute exposure taken half an hour after sunset.
Gardener’s cottage, in West Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, Scotland. Princes Street Gardens were acquired by the city in 1876 and further landscaped by the City Architect Robert Morham (1839 -1912). Morham also built the Gardener’s cottage in 1886. To the right of the cottage is the semicircle of rectangular standing stones depicting the history of the Royal Scots Regiment. The central stone is inscribed with names of the campaigns in which the Regiment took part and a central bronze plaque shows the insignia of George VI. The memorial was unveiled on 5th August 1952 by HRH Princess Mary, the Colonel in Chief. The final stone was unveiled on 9th of May 2007 by HRH Princess Ann to commemorate the end of the Regiment. Behind the Royal Scots memorial you can see the stately towers of New College on The Mound and to the right of this is The Hub, at the top of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. Its gothic spire – the highest point in central Edinburgh – towers over the surrounding buildings, including the adjacent castle. looking South from the top of the Waverley Shopping Center at the East end of Princes Street in Edinburgh, Scotland, looking up to the Old Town. The buildings are typical of the Old Town tenements. Far too many of the unique buildings that once – literally – packed Edinburgh’s Old Town have been lost in the cause of “improvement”. But some of the original Old Town still remains, in the form of the dense pattern of wynds and closes that fall away either side of the Royal Mile, and, in a few cases, in the form of original surviving buildings. This little wooden covered walkway is situated under the Almondell Viaduct (built 1820) in Almondell and Calderwood Country Park, West Lothian, Scotland. Its sole purpose is to stop pedestrians being dripped on from the viaduct above. The park is a semi wild nature retreat open to all.
