Shot at last years Friends and Family open day at RAF Lossiemouth.
At Lossiemouth on the Moray coast on a sunny but very windy February afternoon.
Lossiemouth, Moray, Scotland. / I almost forgot to activate the remote release !
A tee-shirt designed to promote Lossiemouth, a great wee town on the Moray Firth, Scotland with beautiful beaches, nearby rivers, hills and mountains – a short drive from Inverness ‘the capital of the Highlands’

Nikon D80 / ISO Auto (500) / f5 1/640 sec / 18 – 135 lens at 35mm slight adjustment to curves and levels / Lossiemouth in Moray Scotland map link below http://www.multimap.com/s/h5Y6QnvW I did not realise that my camera was set on auto ISO (should have checked I know). I submitted a pixelated version of the sunset on the beach. After some comments about seeing an original I revisted the photo’s and found that this one did not have the noise that others did. So here is the sunset as seen and shot. /

Sunset over the Moray Firth from Lossiemouth, Moray, Scotland. Not convinced about the composition of this image but couldn’t bring myself to leave out any of the cloud formation :) Nikon D80 / Manual / 1 sec. at f8 / ISO 100 / 18.0-70.0mm f/3.5-4.5 at 18mm / 0.6 ND soft Grad. / 0.9 ND soft Grad. / Manfrotto tripod / hand release
Three minutes walk and a scramble down some shoreline sea defences and over some wet rocks and I’m here. I’ve been in this location many times in the belief that there is an image here if only I can find it. Maybe this was the night, I don’t know, but it won’t stop me looking :) Taken from the shoreline looking North in Lossiemouth, Moray Scotland. This is becoming a favourite location for me. It’s too handy but I keep thinking that there’s a better image to be found and so the search goes on. Maybe one day I’ll find it but part of me never wants to! Towards the North West from Lossiemouth in Moray Scotland. Nikon D80 / Aperture Priority / 7 secs. at f22 / ISO 100 / Nikon 18.0-70.0mm f/3.5-4.5 at 18mm / Hitech 1.2 ND soft Grad. / Exposure Compensation +0.3 / Manfrotto 190XPROB / 804RC2 / Cable release
There’s a beautiful soft light in this part of the world. It always seems to me that the further North one goes then the softer it becomes. Sunset was around 1630 and the relative position of the sun to the Moray Firth at this time of year now seems to accentuate that soft feel. I was only at this location for under an hour but during that time I managed to see some dolphins, a rainbow, the moon rise, the sun set and a guy with a Labrador that almost knocked me over. The lab that is :)))) Taken from West of Lossiemouth in Moray, Scotland looking to the North West. Nikon D80 / Manual / 3sec. at f16 / ISO 100 / Nikon 18.0-70.0mm f/3.5-4.5 at 29mm / Hitech 0.9 ND soft Grad. / Manfrotto 190XPROB / 804RC2 head / Cable release / More wet feet :))
The low winter sun highlighting the red sandstone rock caught my eye here but the real bonus was that when I made my way over there I managed to get into position without disturbing some Sanderlings soaking up the dying rays. Most of them even managed to remain still during the 1.6sec exposure :) Image of Lossiemouth in Moray Scotland.
