This is the 3rd shot from today’s series of photos from the local grave yard.. I had heard recently that grave yards make a great subject for IR photography, and I personally think I have to agree as I believe that this is my best IR shot so far.. / The cross that you can see behind the headstone in the middle of the shot is the cross that I used as the subject for my So Dark The Con Of Man shot.. / Anyway let me know what you all think and i hope you like it all as much as i do.. Thanks for looking! Uploaded 31/01/2008

The Loss describes the fact that we all lost something, then we feel so lonely. It can be something or someone that made of us what we are, that made that we felt alive. / But finally all those events that hurt us so much built us, make us stronger and give us something in addition, something that will make us special! We only notice that (for those who notice it) a very long time later… In this creation this loss is reprensentated by the snail’s cockle, like if before she was in it, this was on her back, just like when a snail leave it. / But look at her back, ya see what she got in return? Wings. / The tree branches on her head symbolize her thoughts, so deeply rooted in her mind that she cannot see the good days and hope that are coming to her! This represents our blocked thoughts, when we feel so bad that we cannot help from having dark and depressive thoughts. / She also has elvish ears, the magicks she cannot see yet! So this creation is for those who actually feel bad, who have felt bad, who will feel bad. NEW – 2008 Calendar is available HERE My gallery is Copyright © Wandering Soul. My question is.. How do you feel and react when you know that your marriage is over? I personally can’t imagine the feeling but I have seen my best friend and model go through it first hand and it’s a total feeling of loss, hopelessness and sadness. My apologies for being melancholy but this is the unfortunate reality for many couples. Again, thank you to my beautiful model and friend…...

This is my 3rd and final piece in this series and I believe it closes this chapter yet leaves the door open to endless possibilities. This piece represents the past , present and a greener yet unwritten future. I believe we are all very resilient; can come through hardship and triumph in our unpredictable journey through life…... Again, a huge thank you to my friend and model….

an image capturing the factors that impact on the “quality” of a photographic image. A window, glass, made opaque due to medium density housing regulations, dirty due to water restrictions, the sky and sunshine still fall on the fence that seperates us from strangers. The camera captures this everyday scene, the negative has imperfections, dust attaching itself to its surface during drying, or is pressed between it and the glass during scanning. The scanned image once again “loses” some of what was originally visible, printing the image again brings in imperfections in paper and ink. Yet even with these limitations and imperfections, the power and essence of the image remains. photographer: Chris Zissiadis / camera: Holga 120N

Song for Your Heart is a line taken from the song “Carry You Home” by James Blunt album”All The Lost Souls” I just fall to pieces when I hear it..let’s just say it moves me / ...there are many different interpretations of the lyrics. / Carry You Home is the type of song people have personal associations with…whether it’s war, addiction, devotion a higher love or loss…it’s a sign of a great lyric when they reach out and touch you personally. Trouble is her only friend and he’s back again / Makes her body older than it really is / And she says it’s high time she went away / No one’s got much to say in this town / Trouble is the only way is down. / Down, down As strong as you were, tender you go / I’m watching you breathing for the last time / A song for your heart, but when it is quiet / I know what it means and I’ll carry you home, / I’ll carry you home. If she had wings she would fly away / And another day God will give her some / Trouble is the only way is down. / Down, down. As strong as you were, tender you go / I’m watching you breathing, for the last time / A song for your heart, but when it is quiet. / I know what it means and I’ll carry you home. / I’ll carry you home…... click to hear this extraordinary song Image copyright © 2008 Shanina Conway. / Copying and displaying or redistribution of this image without permission from the artist is strictly prohibited

Mark, an American soldier, gave his life for his fellow countrymen in the war in Iraq. The only one of his unit to survive the initial blast, he battled for life as he was flown back to the United States for medical care. His family flocked to his side and surrounded him with love in his final hours. Not long after his arrival in America, he died on home soil in the arms of his loved ones. His mother Kim, my husband’s first cousin, wrote this poem, “Is it you?” as she struggled with grief and loneliness for her young son. She asked me if I had a dragonfly photo to accompany her poem which relates the tale of the dragonflies that seem to hover near her in a show of consolation. This image is our collaboration, our joint effort, in memory of Mark Graham who defended the cause of freedom with steadfast determination and a valiant heart. May he rest in peace and may the angels surround him and his family now and forever. (100% of proceeds from sales will go to the Mark W. Graham Foundation; see another image, “Is it you?” in this portfolio if you’d like a green dragonfly. It will print better in the card size). Taken from the Mark W. Graham Foundation website, here is additional information about the foundation to which all funds from the sales of these images will be donated: “The Mark W. Graham Foundation is a non-profit organization which provides support for young people of character and military families in crisis. It honors the legacy of Mark Graham, a fallen soldier whose strength of character and gift of service to his country are an inspiration to all who knew him. Mark was a Lafayette, La., native and his death opened the community’s eyes to the reality of war and the sacrifice soldiers make in their fight to keep our country free. He was married to Stephanie for a little more than a year when he died. Mark was 22 years old.”

Does anyone want to hear me scream… hear me shout? / What is life really all about? / I have no answer…no clue… / What the hell am I supposed to do? / Be sweet and kind, kissed everyone’s behind. / Do the right thing / Be trustworthy and true? / I still do it and end up so blue / Blue, sad and sick of it all / Like a leaf as it drops to the ground in the fall. / Just don’t know where to land / By myself or in someone else’s hand. / God, I know you’re there so show me where to land / plant my feet solid to the ground / and then again my love can again be found. I am not a poet so please don’t grade me on this one. Oh, and I am not depressed. Life does go on.

..and it seems like yesterday that you were here. / Laughter filled the house, and love spilled from your eyes, / and I was happy. I see this place, it’s not the same. The / aching in my heart threatens to pull me under, and sorrow spills / from my eyes..and I am torn. I remember you. And I will always / remember you.. / / / / Dedicated to anyone who has lost someone near Christmas time. / Tomorrow, I will be going to the cememtary, and placing / fresh flowers on my Father’s grave, as I do every Christmas. / As Lumineaux said, not everybody is “happy” this time of year. / But Life does go on! And our loved ones would want us to be / happy too. :) Hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow! / / / (taken today, at the abandoned farmhouse..)

So seeing as i get the Banksy thing a bit on here, i figure why the hell not appropriate his ‘Broken Window Theory’ image. And cause i feel this way right now…hey at least i’m still making art! FYI… / This is based on an article titled Broken Windows by James Q. Wilson and George L. Kelling, which appeared in the March 1982 edition of The Atlantic Monthly.[1] The title comes from the following example: “Consider a building with a few broken windows. If the windows are not repaired, the tendency is for vandals to break a few more windows. Eventually, they may even break into the building, and if it’s unoccupied, perhaps become squatters or light fires inside. (Thanks to wikipedia for the text) The Banksy image can be found here part two part three

I saw the daughter of the sun; she stood / Under the north rise of the copse, where now / The shade-hoar faded, where began to show / Pale primrose heads, fresh as her own pale hood / Of straight hair, groups of early mercury / No greener than her own plain sheeny gown - / Long had I wandered in the winter-town / Of smoke-grey fog, of stone grey field and tree Nor girl she seemed, nor goddess; her grave face’ / Soft as a child’s, yet wise, brighter than spring, / More warm than summer, had strange shadowing, / Then mundane lustre held both more and less; No mirth was there, no glee, no eagerness, / No love, save love for every living thing. Elizabeth Daryush / (1887-1977) (Old Angel statue circa 1915 found in a graveyard in Copunty Wicklow, Ireland).

In Ode, Intimations of Immortality from Reflections of Early Childhood, William Wordswoth wrote: Though nothing can bring back the hour / Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower / We will grieve not, but rather find / Strength in what remains behind. I was reminded of those lines when I saw a single blade of grass that had gone to seed and was blooming deep in the woods. The tiny flowers were a sight to behold.

A baby angel begins to slip down into the clouds as sun rays kiss his little body. This version has the words “Forever an Angel, Forever Loved” added to make it an ideal sympathy card if someone you know has experienced this unspeakable loss. These sorts of cards are not readily available. Deanna has lost several babies to miscarriage. This art is a tribute to all the little angels in our world who left their parents far too soon.
