Here we see galahad the one true knight reciving the grail. For he and he alone is pure of heart and able to finish the grail quest. / Galahad is the son of Larcealot and the lady of Challot when Aurther and Merlin meet Larcealot, Galahad is but a boy and only the Lady of the Lake can see his true worth, and only after he joins the round table is this truth reviled. / In this image i have tryed to show as much of the final stage of the grail quest, whilst keeping with this stain glass window approach, that so much of my work has at its heart. This i try to ballance with some historic referance whilst keeping with the victorean ideas of how the grail and the ledgend is portrayed
in this tail were told how Niam of the golden hair rides up to Oisin and invites him to the land of youth. intraping him in her magical song Oisin climes upon the white steed and the pair ride off across the sea to the realm of the fairys know as the land of youth. In this image i have also used symbolism for a collection of sorces such as the quatrfoil shape from stain glass windows to produce the central patten
I don’t know if this is factual, fictional, or a bit of each, but the most commonly circulated story about how the ladybug got its name is quite interesting. According to that account, quite a long time ago in Europe, a small farming village was experiencing unprecedented problems with insects that kept devouring the crops. Faced with certain ruin, the peasants fell to their knees and began to beg the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary to send help in their calamity. Their simple faith was soon rewarded. The farmers began to notice a change in the crops. The dying foliage started to revitalize and greenness once again appeared on the landscape. Something was definitely reversing the devastation. As they looked closer, the farmers noticed small red bugs with black dots festooning their tiny concave, shell-like, bodies. Like soldiers called in to battle, they were eating the culprits—destructive aphids. “Our Lady’s bugs, Our Lady’s beetles,” the grateful villagers proclaimed. Eventually, as the small insects became a familiar part of their lives, the people shortened their name to ladybugs, the term by which they are still known today and perhaps one of the reasons why they are so well-loved. Whatever the case, ladybugs are the allies of farmers; they are tiny soldiers that patrol the fields making sure there will be food on the table for everyone.

I made this one a while ago. The original image can’t be seen and I can’t remember what it even was. Using Ultimate Paint I tried to create a Mandala, and though I don’t remember the exact procedure came up with something that seemed to imply a gateway into Earth mysteries, forest lore. I love it when something like this comes out as a result. It seems to take me back to the first mythic days of our planet Earth. Featured in the First Things group (16/May/09).

I look up at the darkened sky / Of night after the days gone by / And glowing face does catch my eye / He watches me from place so high / / Man in the Moon from myth and lore / Looks down on earth, as has before / While working on his ceaseless chore / Of moving seas, to and from shore / / Few days a month he does appear / On schedule that he must adhere / To show his face from glowing sphere / And light the night when skies are clear / / This fractal artwork was inspired by the many different myths about the Man in the Moon from many different cultures throughout many different eras of human history. I still feel the same awe and mysticism when looking up at the full moon as I did as a young child, and can greatly understand and appreciate just how the Man in the Moon has inspired such stories over the ages. You can read more about the origins of the Man in the Moon at the Wiki link I have provided below. / / Man in the Moon / http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_in_the_Moon / / This was created in Apophysis. The original is 4800×4800 pixels at 300 pixels per inch. The fractal gradient was created with ApoMap, a gradient editor commonly used with Apophysis. Because the original is so large and difficult to see over the internet, I have included a few detail cutaways below. The cutaways are at 33% of the full-size artwork. / / / / / / / /

“Mt. Susitna” otherwise known as “The Sleeping Lady” in Cook Inlet, off the Anchorage Alaska coastline. The Sleeping Lady has a legend/myth to go with it. The story goes that a young Native Alaskan Princess once set her betrothed off to war. She swore to be loyal to him and to await his return no matter how long that took. When all the other warriors came back and her Prince did not, it is told that she waited and waited until she fell asleep. It is said that she sleeps there to this day awaiting her Prince’s return.

This was shot late in the evening on June 5 this year, as a formation of three vintage Harvards literally roared over me at Temora, New South Wales. It’s not the sharpest image, because I had no time to change the settings on the camera. To take this shot, I literally grabbed my camera out of the bag and “tracked” the Harvards in my viewfinder for a couple of seconds before hitting the shutter. A tough shot to achieve, but I’m glad I tried. It’s not every day you see something like this to finish up your day! I do not crop or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/90 sec, ISO 400, focal length 125mm. (Temora 5 June – 7633)

To the Babylonians, Phoenicians, and Assyrians, it was honoured as a symbol of fertility. 2. In Native American tradition, the fish is a symbol for mystical secrets, for it can swim to the deepest regions of the ocean and explore its hidden knowledge. 3. In British lore, it was believed that eating fish before lovemaking could enable a couple to conceive a child. 4. The early Christians used the fish as the symbol for the Christ Consciousness. It was widely believed that this symbol resulted from the Greek acronym for \”Jesus Christ, Son of God.\” But there is also the fact that the coming of Jesus ushered in the Age of Pisces the Fish, which encapsulates the mysticism, love, and happiness to which all world traditions ascribe to the fish. 5. In Scandinavia, fish was considered an aphrodisiac, and was popularly consumed on Friday, the feast day of Freya, Goddess of Love – and in her honour Friday was a day dedicated to lovemaking. There are, therefore, many possibilities if you dream of a fish – all good, even if the fish was a greatly feared one like the Shark [a powerful Hawaiian Aumakua]. If there is a possibility of a pregnancy, dreaming of a fish could mean that a child is on the way, and the pregnancy and birth will be uneventful and result in a healthy baby. If the dreamer is in love but is not yet sure about the beloved’s feelings, dreaming of a fish strongly indicates that the feelings are indeed reciprocated. Dreaming of catching fish, either with a pole or with a net, indicates success and prosperity ahead. Seeing fish swimming in a clear pool indicates that a number of secrets about yourself and the world around you are going to suddenly become clearer.” Information Source from MSN Free Dream Dicitonary Astrocenter Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
Gosh this image has had so many treatments, but I am happy with the result. / Self portrait during a time of intense identity rediscovery, with my religious upbringing and cultural background melding, yet causing conflict in my heart as I researched more about post-colonial events and reached further into my own soul.
The name Lilith is derived from the assyrian-Babylonian word for LILITU, meaning “Wind Spirit”. Lilith can be found in Sumerian, Baby…
Lilith is a strong influence within my own 12th astrological house, of which I’m currently experiencing…the 12th house is the cyclic period of initiation & ultimate understanding, atonement & attunement, service or suffering, karma and the shadow side of SELF being hidden or embraced. The house that ‘hides’ your secrets, the side of yourself that only comes out when you’re alone, where you keep all traits and behaviors you were taught to stifle and deny. The 12th house is the cycle one month before your new year begins on your birthday…
A grouping of crows is called a ‘murder’, this group landed in our “Message Tree”, just hours before a wind storm blew through. / There are many superstitions about crows: / The English have a rhyme about crows: one means anger; two is mirth; three a wedding; four a birth; five is heaven; six is hell; seven is the devil himself. / To the natives of Northamptonshire, however, a single flying crow is an omen of bad luck instead of anger. / Crows or Ravens gathering in trees in the dark, but never really settling, are souls in purgatory, according to the Irish. / In Russia it was believed that a witch’s spirit took crow-form. Their magical attributes are many, as well: Thief, trickery, boldness, skill, cunning, single mindedness; a bringer of knowledge. Prophesy. Learn from the past but don’t hold onto it. Swiftness, eloquence. Shape-shifting. Divination. To the alchemist, the crow stood for the condition produced when the Elements had been separated out. For myself, from my experiences in rescuing so many from being poisoned, shot and hit by cars – I have only found them to being quite intelligent with a varied vocabulary in mockery and the best insectivores around. Always quite pleased to see them as we travel along the highways, as they usually warn us of law enforcement not being very far away… Which reminded me of this SONG by my favorite Crow ;)
