I had thought that this little guy was previously a moth…but after some deep digging… I have discovered that he is a Zilpa Longtail (Chioides zilpa) a member of the Spread-wing Skippers (Hesperiidae: Pyrginae). To be so little and have such a big name huh? He is only about an inch in length from head to the tip of his tail….So…he is no moth…he is indeed a butterfly…just a little bitty one…

I started working on this image. hdr’ing 3 shots, when the tones came out all weird…well weird, but I like it…!! / It was in fact getting quite dark while taking the shots, so the atmosphere is true to form….Taken along the Krabi Coastline, (Thailand), at low, low tide…The longtail boats all lined up ready for service when the next day dawns. / A fairly memorable shot for me, I can still here the prayer songs echoing along the quiet shoreline, the sun setting behind the Railay Peninsula in the background. / thanks for looking….cheers, Rob.

A perfect sunset over Thailand’s Railay Beach. This serene moment was momentarily interrupted by the loud thumping gurgle of an approaching Long Tail’s rickety diesel motor (a sound that I actually grew to love). The approaching Long Tail boat provided me with a lovely photographic opportunity as it putted towards the beach. What a perfect day.
