  • ‘As long as I live, I’ll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I’ll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche. I’ll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can.’ / John Muir Longs Peak…Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Colorado.

  • Sometimes, not often enough in my opinion, I am lucky to get to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado at first light and this was one of those times. Just as the sun started hitting Long’s Peak, I almost ran the car off the road, to park and run in the back seat for my tripod…had to be done! Let me know what ya think! / —-John

  • I love mornings….I love the quiet….the feeling of a new beginning….I love watching the sun’s colors pour across the mountain peaks….I love how the first light of day warms the pine trees as the day comes alive….It is my favorite time of day….I always feel blessed and grateful to see another sunrise…..and begin another day of life…. Summer Sunrise on Longs Peak….Estes Park, Colorado.

  • The weir below Monsal Head in the Peak District, Derbyshire. A very beautiful place. Taken with Panasonic Lumix FZ50 + Cokin ND8 Filter.

  • This is the very top of Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Colorado, taken a few days ago at sunrise. I can see this magnificent mountain from my deck and probably have 100 photos of it, as each and every day that dawns sheds a new light on it. Longs Peak is a very popular mountain for climbers from all over. It is 14, 255 feet in altitude…..the climb to the summit is 8 miles with an elevation gain of 4,855 feet, so it is a serious hike….one must start up the trail at least by 3 a.m. and be well prepared for diverse weather conditions. The strong possibility of afternoon thunderstorms encourages hikers to be off the summit by noon. Longs Peak is one of the most well-known mountains in Colorado and can be seen from Denver to Cheyenne, Wyoming. I open my blinds each day in awe and take a deep breath as I experience the beauty of this mountain in the morning light….and I say ‘thank you’......

  • ‘Every day is my best day; this is my life; I’m not going to have this moment again.’ / Bernie Seigel We May Never Pass This Way Again by Seals & Crofts Life, so they say, is but a game and we let it slip away. / Love, like the Autumn sun, should be dyin’ but it’s only just begun. / Like the twilight in the road up ahead, they don’t see just where we’re goin’. / And all the secrets in the Universe, whisper in our ears / And all the years will come and go, take us up, always up. / We may never pass this way again. We may never pass this way again. / We may never pass this way again. Dreams, so they say, are for the fools and they let ‘em drift away. / Peace, like the silent dove, should be flyin’ but it’s only just begun. / Like Columbus in the olden days, we must gather all our courage. / Sail our ships out on the open sea. Cast away our fears / And all the years will come and go, and take us up, always up. / We may never pass this way again. We may never pass this way again. / We may never pass this way again. So, I wanna laugh while the laughin’ is easy. I wanna cry if it makes it worthwhile. / We may never pass this way again, that’s why I want it with you. / ‘Cause, you make me feel like I’m more than a friend. Like I’m the journey and you’re the journey’s end. / We may never pass this way again, that’s why I want it with you, baby. We may never pass this way again. We may never pass this way again. / We may never pass this way again. We may never pass this way again.

  • This morning’s sunrise was an outstanding show of color, clouds and movement….the winds blew strong over Longs Peak as I watched in awe of the day as she came alive….the clouds seemed to be floating with purpose across the peak, taking the birds along with them…..the sky was filled with life…. I never cease to be inspired and amazed by each new morning that I am blessed to see…..and I am thankful to be alive….. Estes Park, Colorado.

  • The colors last fall seemed incredibly beautiful to me. Maybe part of my experience had to do with that it was my first fall with my new Nikon D80. A friend joined me early one morning for a drive up to Brainard Lake Recreation Area, near Ward, Colorado. We walked up to Long Lake and hiked around the lake. / A small crop done, to get rid of a shadow from a bridge, and a few dead pixels cloned out. Otherwise, exactly as it came out of the camera. / Nikon D80, with 18-135 mm Nikon lens / f/25, 1/5 sec, ISO 100, focal length 28 mm

  • Well this shot did really well over on deviantART so I thought that I would also share with you all here too. (I honestly wasn’t expecting the 1600 odd favorites it received over there, took me by surprise!) Storm clouds fight with the evening sunset over the Colorado Rockies & Longs Peak. Every now and then I like to get a little artistic with my HDR’s and this is one of those, there is no right, no wrongs when it comes to photography and artistic interpretation, and i realize that not everyone likes that, nor this style, that is fine, I respect that, but I also ask the same of you to respect my creativeness, too! Now that being said, hope ya all dig it! / John See more on my website at www.jdebordphoto.com Minolta MAXXUM 5D / Shutter Speed: 1/25 second / F Number: F/9.0 / Focal Length: 80 mm / ISO Speed: 200
