  • This is La Courtine, one of the most beautiful cliff I’ve ever seen. La Courtine is part of the amazing rocky coast around Etretat in Upper Normandy, France, altogether known as Les Failases d’Etretat. I took this picture last August, on a very windy – as usual over there – late afternoon. / I wanted to have the sea looking as much smooth as possible, but I was in full daylight, as it was around 19:30 hours. Even with the overcasted sky, and even full stopping down the lens, the exposure time was only 1/2 seconds, a too fast time to move the sea surface. Using a polarizer and a 8x ND filter I gained 5 more stops, obtaining therefore, with a slight over-exposure, 20 secs of exposure time. Finally, I used a graduated filter to darken the sky, while keeping a correct exposure on the cliffs and the sea. / This allowed me to give the sea surface a watercolour paint look, and I also obtained a slight movement in the clouds, thanks to the strong wind. I hope you enjoy it, thanks for dropping by. / Paolo

  • / Instead of going for my usual afternoon walk around Princess Park I had that creative urge… So I went walking with my camera and this is one of the finished images from yesterday evening. Approx. 50mts from Moreland Station in Brunswick. / As you can see I’m up to my old tricks with long exposure and post proc!! :D / This image was captured on the same evening as this piece… / / Peace and hugs!! / / / Art Folders… / / Entire Portfolio / Born From This Earth – Series / Hearts At War / Vehicular works / Architecture / Travel / B&W Photography / Transitional Industrial Utopian Series / Abstract / Models and Fashion Photography

  • Image for a challenge using plain white paper. Using long exposure and torchlight to light the area, this is what I came up with. exp – 8 seconds / f3.5 / iso 80 / FL 31mm / eveready torch with piano certificate held in front to diffuse the torchlight, only other props include sticky tape and one sheet of plain white photocopy paper, and lots of patience. At one stage, a rotating multi-coloured disco light was involved, but this was soon abandoned due to the law of physics/light not matching the image in my head :(

  • Infrared Photography captured using a Nikon D80 Hoya IR filter. The long exposure created a nice movement style to the clouds. 10 sec – f5 / 18mm

  • turn like the tide in the moonlight / rotate like the wheel’s coming loose / it’s a wonderful thing, to behold such a sight / it’s as if you’ve been hustled, vamoose! good god it’s amazing you settle / and dance with such grace, such aplomb / and to think that the steam from a kettle / could drive you, could so spur you on four minutes of fizz and you’re flying / suspending the passengers high / and what makes the motion surprising / is you’re moving in synch with the sky —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Location: Falkirk Wheel, Falkirk, Scotland © Donald Cameron 2009 / Monophotography.co.uk Created for the 12th SlashTHREE online art exhibition Steampunk See the shot from my previous visit here to view the wheel from another angle. What is it? / This is a long exposure shot capturing the rotation of the Falkirk Wheel in Scotland – the world’s first revolving canal boat lift. It takes approximately 4 minutes to fully rotate and lifts boats up to the next level of the canal. An amazing piece of architechtural design and engineering, apparently it only takes the equivalent power of boiling a kettle to power each rotation.
