An outcast, a loner… / He stands on his own. / Away from the group / With his head hung low / He sulks… / Waiting… / For acceptance. I watched this group for some time. That lone horse never had any interaction with the group?
I’m fascinated by this tree which grows in Lafayette, Louisiana. I think it must have fallen after a storm and then started growing again because the base of its trunk is very misshappen and convoluted as though it had been twisted and torn at one time. I stumbled across this quotation by Winston Churchill and immediately thought about this lone live oak. I think the words of the statesman and this stately old tree go well together. It’s encouragement for those who consider themselves loners because, as Churchill pointed out, solitary trees, having overcome the adversities of loneliness, grow stronger as a result.
This is a closer view of eight redbubblers. On the bottom two are engaged in an intense conversation, All eight bubblers have identifying marks for you to identify who they are. They may be on your favorite list or someone who you will add soon. You do not have to identify all eight. Let me know which ones you can identify by the symbols on their head. They have different characteristics. For example, the bottom red bubbler has a dark beard and enjoys wearing a helmet. Another is fascinated with tigers and uses gold and texture in his work. There is another person who is frustrated, saddled with a mortgage, kids and sales targets and likes to sit under trees and watch the clouds drift by. Someone appears to be angry at the red bubbler below him. I don’t know what prompted his rage. Do you? One of them might be you. There is one on the far left that wants to join the group, but is a loner. One of the images is me observing the interaction of the eight members. Can you find me? Hint: I may not be a red bubble head. Since this is an abstract and one member saw a map of Africa, please feel free to free associate to this photograph and as always let me know what you see.
John Milton once wrote, “Loneliness is the first thing which God’s eye named, not good.” This lone chickadee on a limb seems to be a fitting companion to Milton’s quote. I dedicate the image to everyone experiencing loneliness with a prayer that they will find respite from this intense kind of suffering.
This tiny bird which I think is a phoebe is always alone and seldom ventures anywhere near the flocks of other birds that frequent my feeders, hence my title, “Little Loner.”
Hes a perfect stranger, / Like a cross of himself and a fox. / Hes a feeling arranger / And a changer of the ways he talks. / Hes the unforeseen danger / The keeper of the key to the locks. / Know when you see him, / Nothing can free him. / Step aside, open wide, / Its the loner. If you see him in the subway, / Hell be down at the end of the car. / Watching you move / Until he knows he knows who you are. / When you get off at your station alone, / Hell know that you are. / Know when you see him, / Nothing can free him. / Step aside, open wide, / Its the loner. There was a woman he knew / About a year or so ago. / She had something that he needed / And he pleaded with her not to go. / On the day that she left, / He died, but it did not show. / Know when you see him, / Nothing can free him. / Step aside, open wide, / Its the loner. – Neil Young

For most people life is a journey through endless polarities. Good cannot exist without evil; happiness without sadness; wrong without right. As long as one remains within such realm of duality one is always surrounded by opposites and has to choose one over the other. Every choice made is a step in one of two directions. Every step taken leads to a new choice to be made…

I liked them.. they have this spooky lonely vibe to them.. sad but not, so fragile yet stubbornly strong clawing their way thru the grass to the sunlight… / plants are so trippy :)

Hate can be shown in various ways and do so all the time. The only way we can stop all the hatred going on I think is to show/help people to be more open minded. Nowdays nothing is longer “new” so the only reason alone why people still has to be such ignorant fools is that they don’t know any better. / This is my take on one way hatred often is shown, on somebody different. To be different suppose to be a good thing. To stand out from the “normal” crowd and mainstream living. Yet so many people is neglected and looked down upon by the very same reason. / To stand out is to be strong. To dare go against the modern society we have today and pursuit his/her way of living. This can be many many ways, gender, skin color, sexuality, dressing, talking etc etc, the list can be made into all eternity. It’s scary how many people still that lacks tolerance and respect/understanding towards new things. / I wonder when the rest of the world is going to have an open mind, if ever… Canon EOS 400D / Sigma 17-70 / F2.8-4.5 / ISO 100 / f/4.5 / 1/4 s / 33mm CS4 for vignetting & levels More works can be found over at DeviantART / and / rdblanche.com

I wrote this in a moment when I was indulging in the introvertedness of myself, as well as my hightened awareness; the “never really fits in anywhere; who could really ever know me” girl. Just a bit of poetic indulgence. :) Indulge me, would you? lol
