I uploaded a similar photo of colorful adirondack chairs taken on Captiva Island, Florida, and got a comment from Jerry Alcantara suggesting that the photo would make a good “I miss you” card. Thanks for the tip, Jerry. I went with it, looked over similar images of those adirondacks, and chose this one to make into that card. I think it fits the bill! Here’s another photo of the adirondack chairs /

As I was traveling down the Nashua River, amongst the dark greenery, this single Birch tree stood out, and with its reflection in the water, it reminded me that a simple tree can make the entire shoreline stand out. As photographers we are very much like this birch; we each bring our best photos, to stand out among the rest of the trees in the forest, in hopes to show the world how beautiful this Earth really is.
During an extended drought in the summer of 2007, the ponds were shrinking, concentrating fish and other prey into smaller and shallower pools. The resulting easy pickings brought this astonishing assortment of birds: Roseate Spoonbills (rare in this area), Wood Storks, various herons and egrets, and in the center, a lone White Pelican. The White Pelicans are always seen here in flocks, and the flocks have migrated north by this time. This one may have been injured and unable to migrate with the rest. Or maybe he’s just an independent cuss! St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, on Florida’s panhandle gulf coast.
