The trip down the River Thames was a perfect oppurtunity to take photos and this composition of the Golden Jubillee additions to Charing Cross Bridge infront of the Millenium Wheel showed the modern cosmopolitan heart of London. I made it a sepia shot to highlight different parts of the structures.

The London Eye (Millennium Wheel) at a height of 135 metres (443 ft), is the biggest Ferris wheel in Europe, and has become the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom, visited by over 3 million people a year. The adult fare is just over £15. At the time it was erected it was the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, until it was surpassed by the Star of Nanchang (160m) in May 2006, and then the Singapore Flyer (165m) on 11 February 2008. However, it is still described by its operators as "the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel" (because the entire structure is supported by an A-frame on one side only). The London Eye is located at the western end of Jubilee Gardens, on the South Bank of the River Thames in London, United Kingdom, between Westminster Bridge and Hungerford Bridge.

This is a picture of the london eye that I took when i was on a trip there. I read an article in a magazine about taking pictures of just parts of something rather than the whole thing. This is one of the pictures desaturated and with a border added. heres the other one http://www.redbubble.com/people/mahoney/art/2830848-2-view-of-the-london-eye-2
I’d just bought the Canon 40D and 10-22mm lens, and this was not the best day for an outdoor photo shoot in London. / I was watching the bank for any activity when I spotted this boat leaving the jetty on the other side. I ran across the bridge, barging people out of the way as I went, and came to rest near the middle. I set up just in time to get the shot, then suffered an asthma attack! / I froze my a’$£ off this day, it felt like minus 10. / 15 minutes later it started to snow. Canon EOS 40D / 10mm, F/3.5, 1/2000sec, ISO-400 / Tripod: NO, Flash: NO / Inhaler: YES
Taken in London with my Nikon D40 and natural light.
A different view of the London Eye photographed in September 2009. The building is part of the old County Hall on the south bank of the River Thames. A beautiful building in it’s own right, I wanted to include some of it’s ornate stonework as a contrast to the futuristic design of the Eye.
Featured in Windmills, Watermills and Ferris Wheels * / . / When I was in London in 2007 with a group of my students I took my time trying to get some interesting shots with unusual perspectives. I walked along the Thames with the girls of my class, trying to get some pictures of the architecture of the bridges along the river when we came to the “London Eye”. Although I’ve been to London before I was impressed by this large construction. / As I still find it difficult to get clear shots out of the capsules while being on the Eye, I tried to get an image of this enormous wheel. I sat on the ground beyond the wheel to keep the camera steady and – here it is… / Hope you may find something interesting in it. Post processing: rotated slightly to the left, cropped, enhanced contrasts a bit, reduced brightness a bit, added some blue, reduced noise as this was not taken with a digital camera, sharpened
