Just south of Ross in Tasmania lies a beautiful little structure. Try not to miss it.
A day at the beach in six moments. I love going to the beach in our Kombi. We bomb along and put the air conditioning on (wind the windows down). I run around trying to get the perfect shot of a seagull or something and my family go about their business laughing at me. I am going bald and always forget to cover my scalp, so end up looking like a traffic light.
I love a certain light. I guess all photographers do. Early morning and I don’t get along all that well, so I am used to dusk. I like that. I like the gold that makes it’s way into the evening – it’s kind of magical.
Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. I love an antique sky. This was originally a larger piece with a sky that worked out really well, in my opinion. However, sometimes composition wins out and you have to make a sacrifice or two for the emotion you are trying to create.
I bought a tripod at last. This is all I could think to do with it. There is a beach only minutes away (Howrah Beach), so this all I could come up with so far…
Near Calvert’s Lagoon near Clifton Beach. Tasmania.
This was taken between Bushy Park and Hamilton in Tasmania. A really beautiful place for me to visit every now and then. I always end up with clear days, but can’t wait to visit on a misty day… should look cool. Canon 40D + 17-85mm + Polarising Filter
It’s amazing what you find down country roads! Bushy Park, Tasmania.
I had this photo sitting around in a folder for ages and thought I had better do something with it. I usually throw layers of crap at my pics to make up for mistakes and general bad photography. But this time I thought I should do something a bit more creative. Ironically the shot of the cow was OK in the first place… for a change!
Looking toward Mt. Wellington from the Eastern Shore in Hobart, Tasmania. BEST VIEWED LARGE (It’s a small boat). Canon 40D + 17-85mm + Polarising Filter
A rock, a bird, a boat and a mountain. Derwent River, Tasmania. Lying in wet sand for a photo… sometimes you just have to do it!
Tasmanian Botanic Gardens
You would think I could come up with a more original title that “Maple”, what was I thinking?
Life needs to be simple, if only to understand a little of it! I’m going through a Japanese stage at the moment. It’s amazing when you study simplicity, the concept is hard. It’s like trying to do a child’s drawing or abstract art – you see it in the museum and say “I could do that!” but you can’t…
This is the first piece of work that I ever planned. I had an idea and then proceeded through to an end product. Luckily it kind of worked – otherwise I probably would have been shattered!
If I learnt one thing from this, I really need to buy a Wacom tablet. My wrists are killing me!
Canon 40D, 17-85mm.

My work has been accepted for the 2009 Silvershotz folio!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for your support everyone! I’m just totally gobsmacked….now I have to prepare the images, AND organise an artists statement….(that’s the hardest part). The images I submitted were mostly from the Study of scars and aging skin that you’ll find on my halftone arty farty portfolio, although the one that will probably get pride of place in the publication is Lean on me, an image of TextureoftheSin and ~Ademac. Thanks so much you two!!!! The magazine will be sent to 1200 galleries and museums around the world! How exciting!!!! I’d just like to extend personal thanks to Kristi for telling me about Silvershotz a couple of years ago, Pilgrim for loving my halftone work, to Paul for his constant support and encouragement (and modelling!), and finally a huge thanks to John Lomas for the final nudge to complete my submission. I’d almost let it lapse…..so thanks so much guys!!! phew, feels like an emmy speech….soz!
