Well after walking the hot tin roof for more than 11 days, it’s finally arrived, my Rolleicord, all the way from the states. I am absolutely like a boy who has just stepped back in time and have 2 pennies to spend in the milk bar. I can’t wait for the weekend, I have 4 rolls ready to go. Will be posting my first prints from the negs this weekend… I love the size of this neg, AWESOME!

Well, who knows who is reading this, but hey, the exams (in part, but not exclusively) have quietly ravaged my ability to keep up to date with the project, not to metion lack of skill and lack of immediate resources. Most dates have multiple pictures and the other plan was to merge them all into a book – currently, this would appear to be the best way of presenting my shots as while they are all alright, few hold together of their own accord, and none seem to be provoking any response (despite the fact the only one’s up are not all or necessarily the best). / I also seem to be taking a lot of flowers, and as I’m not even half as good as dear Ingz and her absolutely stunning pics (we love you Ingz!) I fear I should back off! XD / Moreover, forget-me-nots have been INCREDIBLY hard to get hold of. I’m halfway to trying to buy them at a garden centre or something as I love them so, but the only place where I’ve seen them this month is alongside the road up to school (the WRONG side) and in a flower bed, bang-slap in the middle! Difficult times for the self-conscious, too-young-to-die photographer! =P / I’ve got a couple of okay ones on black or Lollie-shaped backgrounds, but nothing to write home about, so to speak. Alas, the poor, short-lived things may be gone by the time I get back, let alone try to snap again. Ah well. (Beware, increased poetic rambling may occur beyond this point) May is nearly over now however, just around eight days and then it will be June. As far as I’m concerned, it turns summer. It smarts of tourists frying themselves into yellow beaches. And what has May been? Just a touch of spring it seems, gone so fast much like everything else. Waited for, adored, reveled in but still, impossible to hold on to; it’s Time. It’s seems almost like I missed it, trying to look at every day and see the significance of May in them. Even on my favourite day the glimpse of joy was fleeting under a cloudy sky. / Of course, each day is what you make it, but we are not the only things alive – and all these living things come awakened fresh into the spring, not yet lazily drunk on summer’s mellow fruitfulness, but born freely, brightly into the youthful sunshine. To move out of spring, is to long for it, yearning to be young again, yet while it is here, all is new. / And hurrah for that. =) To the singular inspiration ^^

Well, I couldn’t wait to Launch Bloomin’ Arty, even though I told myself I would do it in September, so it was ready for Christmas, and it was loaded with lots more products like T-Shirts, Calendars etc. But I could not wait that long. It was going to be on September the 25th. A Friday night at 9pm, champagne for my friends and nibbles and various trinkets, all packed into my tiny studio apartment. I thought it would be fun! But no, I have rushed ahead and it is now a cyber-event for my facebook friends, on June 26th. I don’t think they even understood that they are not invited to my home, they are ivited to their computer, to just say Wooo Hooo! all at the same time. Lame Huh! Oh, well, never mind, I can always find an excuse for a party another time. LOL BArty

COLLECTING Collecting can become so addictive, especially for an artist. My found objects and things are the inspiration and starting point for most of my artwork and ideas. When I see something; it can trigger of an instant idea and give me a vision to work with.I think this is why I love museums too as display and arranging objects are an important part of my work. I have been collecting since I was born. I used to hide stuff under my bed in boxes as a child .As an adult I’m still putting stuff into boxes and plastic bags and other strange things. I view my collections as arrangements. They are all art installations scattered around my place as well as material for use in my arts projects Walking through the streets to the local shop I always come home with something foot trodden. A piece of paper, packaging, a bright piece of plastic, glass all will be used in my art eventually. When I travel overseas (much to the sometimes embarrassment to friends and family) I pick up off the ground, bottle tops, lolly papers, wires bright bits of plastic, even if an item disturbs me I’ll bring it home.On a tour once in Europe the whole busload of passengers collected bottle tops for me. My stuff may brood for years in a dark space or cupboard till I come across it again sending me off on another project. On my last trip to Paris I came home with 15 kilo of junk. I collected baguette bags, bits of string, stones, free ad cards, labels from food items, torn posters, a book and papers from a bin. All sorts of ephemera is precious to me. I collect found photographs, as they tell a story about people and places I’ll never know about.I make up my own stories. I collect found images, negatives, scientific stuff, equations, wire, tin, bones, animal skeletons, fur, hair, watches, old mobile covers, eye glasses, shrivelled things, found numbers and fonts from keyboards, magazines and advertising, boxes, packaging, all sorts paper, vintage clothes, fabrics, wall papers, shells, driftwood, snowglobes, toys, childrens books and so much more I go to op shops, cities, airports underground spaces ,beaches, garage sales, friends houses and sometimes, find stuff on EBay though, part of the fun and attraction for me is, the actual finding of a material that is discarded and thrown away. I like to recycle it into something else or, just show its beauty, as it is. Collections of stuff are also extremally important for future generations, for History. 100’s years from now someone may come across my piece of fabric, wallpaper ,lolly paper, box ,bone etc that will give them information on of how we lived in our time, in our place. Collections are also portraits of those who love to glean….. Check out Andy Warhol’s boxes and boxes of stuff he collected over his life time http://www.warhol.org/collections/archives.html
