    I have a great admiration for the everyday valor of working men. They just get on with difficult and painful jobs year after year. So many of them take pride in even the most mundane of jobs and they invest them with dignity. If I have heroes it is these people.

    I find inspiration in nature, and one summer visited a natural area an hour or so away from my home. The forest there is ‘virgin’ timber, never cut by man. The trees are hundreds of years old, and some, of course, have fallen. In places, these huge old logs have fallen across the stream at the base of the canyon, and if you look closely at them, you’ll see tiny trees growing on the bark of the fallen log.
