Thelymitra Rubra – Common Pink or Salmon Sun Orchid. They are a beautiful shade of pink, and are aptly names sun orchids as they only open on warm sunny days.

A couple of King Spider Orchids (Arachnorchis tentaculata) dancing back to back in the morning light on Mount Barker Summit in the Adelaide Hills : ) In SA this orchid is still called Caladenia tentaculata…just to be confusing! lol

In anticipation of the orchid season, I am looking back at some from last year :) This blue Scented Sun-Orchid (Thelymitra nuda) was photographed on Mt Barker Summit, and was one of only a few of the blue sun orchids that we saw.

I photographed my very first eagles on this New Year’s Day 2009; this one was in Amelia, Louisiana, in St. Mary’s Parish. I thought the quote by Benjamin Franklin was an appropriate one to sum up my adventures this day and my hopes for the new year. Happy New Year to all!
