The Caledonian Canal between Banavie and Corpach on a winter afternoon
At Caol on a December afternoon, with ice on the canal, snow on The Ben, and mist in The Glen
Nikon D60 = f/8, 1/200sec, ISO-100, FL -18mm. Glenfinnan Viaduct is a railway viaduct on the West Highland Line in Glenfinnan, Lochaber, Highland, Scotland. It was built between 1897 and 1901. Located at the top of Loch Shiel in the West Highlands of Scotland, the viaduct overlooks the Glenfinnan Monument and the waters of Loch Shiel. The 21-arch viaduct was one of the largest engineering undertakings using concrete without reinforcing when it was built by Sir Robert McAlpine. Glenfinnan Viaduct has been used as a location in several films and television series, including Charlotte Gray, Monarch of the Glen, and most famously Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in which a substantial sequence revolves around the Hogwarts Express crossing the viaduct. Its appearances in two subsequent Harry Potter films, The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Goblet of Fire, has cemented the association of the viaduct with the film series.[
An early Autumn evening image of The Pap of Glencoe (Scottish Gaelic: Sgurr na Cìche), a mountain on the northern side of Glencoe. It lies at the western end of the Aonach Eagach ridge, directly above the point where the River Coe enters Loch Leven. The Pap has a distinctive conical shape particularly when viewed from the west, and forms part of the “classic” view of the entrance to Glencoe.
