i wish people would leave animals where they are…non commercial use… / the iquana cannot live in the wild in much of the world…people get them from pet stores..these cute little lizards…and have no idea of the care and space they need to survive. so, some just let them go into the wild…bad idea. / i took sunee in about 9 years ago… / his habitat is a 12’ by 12” sunroom…with large windows, facing the woods, a small pool, dessert lighting and heat lighting..rocks rock garden..he is quite spoiled. / litter trained, and gets along with the other animals… / they live for years…20ish..he is a vegetarian… this is for bonita…she still misses her girl… terri

This Lanner Falcon getting a little wet in a summer shower…....... (-: The Lanner Falcon is a native of all of Africa and the southern parts of Italy, Sicily, Greece and Asia Minor. / It is essentially a bird of mountainous terrain except in Africa, where it can also be found in savannahs, plains and deserts. The Lanner Falcon is a fast-flying bird and is well designed for catching birds up to the size of a Guinea Fowl, and bats, especially the larger fruit bats. / When prey of this kind is scarce, ground living mammals and lizards are taken. It will also gorge on locusts and flying termites when they are swarming. The Lanner Falcon has a shrill, piercing, almost screaming voice, similar in content to that of the Peregerine Falcon, but somewhat higher pitched. Much, but not all of the Lanner Falcon’s prey is taken in the air, when the falcon descends to its prey and binds to it with a smack which can be heard some way off. It then carries it off. / Occasionally it will strike its prey in the air and allow it to drop to the ground, collecting it there, but this is less frequent behaviour. / When defending its nesting territory, it will often stoop with tremendous force at an animal it cannot hope to kill, which seems to be, nonetheless, an effective deterrent.
A small section of my garden where I have used an American Indian’s metate in an unusual way…
Taken at Werribee Zoo, near Melbourne. Had to take heaps of shots until I got him with both eyes pointing in the same direction!!!
My dear friend Antoine had just returned from a tour of India and had brought me back a gift of a hookah. It was an exceptionally beautiful item, crafted of blown opalescent glass and gilt in fine designs accented with jewels. I was beside myself with delight – I had always secretly wanted one. I couldn’t wait to have this exotic item lounging casually on my coffee table. “Well, let’s try it out!” said Antoine, extracting a small velveteen pouch from his pocket. I gave up smoking some time ago and my hookah fantasies had never ventured much past the purely decorative, but I was feeling adventuresome. “Hey, how about some coffee to go with?” he suggested, indicating a special blend he had brought back as well. He busied himself with the hookah and I busied myself with the French press and we bubbled and sipped for some time thereafter out on the back porch, under the light of a very bright, full moon. I felt more than a little peculiar and concluded that Antoine’s tobacco blend must be especially strong. Eventually his jet lag kicked in and he regretfully called it a night and went home. I went back out on the porch and stared, wide-eyed, at the ponderous moon, recalling why I don’t ever drink coffee after 2:00 pm. I glanced at the offending cup and saw this very entity hovering about 2 inches above it, clutching a diminutive donut. I calmly closed my eyes, rubbed them very hard, took a deep breath and opened them again. She was still there. There was also a small lizard twining its tail around my teaspoon. I began to wonder just what the hell Antoine had me smoking. After taking a delicate bite out of her donut, she informed me that she was a Java Goddess, an ancient deity who had been trapped in the heart of the bean and released with the aroma of the brew. Also, her lizard’s name was Sumatra. “That’s nice” I said, slowly backing away, “You two make yourselves perfectly comfortable – help yourselves to anything you’d like. I have to go to bed now”. I made a mad dash for a bottle of Ambien and figured that I would realize I’d been dreaming in the morning. But of course, the next morning I found donut crumbs in a saucer and tiny lizard prints on my teaspoon. And that coffee? I have brewed a pot of it every morning for the past 2 years and I haven’t run out of it yet. The goddess hasn’t visited me again, but maybe she will visit you. Original measures 5” x 7” x ¾” and features vintage images, Thai lace paper, German Dresden trim and is accented by small sparkling crystals, a silver mask and a lovely piece of passementerie at the bottom. / Rescued Pets / ImageWriting / Pets are Us Adjusted a little in Photo Shop This Is Mikie my Green Iguana, Giant Greens as they are called. She is a tropical lizard about 7 years old. (5 feet 9 pounds) I love her very much because she is a special lizard. She isn’t like other iggys. Mikie will hug me,(i kid you not) BUT only me. no one else would dare get that close to her and I would not let them ‘cause she bites. She is sweet with me tho and that is all that counts. / Thousands of years ago the natives of Mexico once thought that the iguana HAD to be with the Kings in their tombs because that was the ONLY way he could come back to earth and still be able to return to his rewarded land. They thought the green iguana was the key to returning to earth, like an earth totom. Mikie was a rescued from a sure fate of painful death. She was just 4 months old tossed in a cage of 12 with one dead already. There she was a skinny little green lizard who’s shop keep had NO idea what the heck he had. She never asked to be here but when she arrived, she was sick. I took her to the vet and found the little baby lizard had bone deasese due to poor living and food and it cause her to loose her entire fingernail on her right hand, 3 spikes, and 1 inch of tail. I nursed her back to health and as you can see the past is far behind her 7 healthy years latter. / / Copyright / These Images and Writings Do Not Belong To ANY Public Domain. / if it doesn’t belong / Of Noble Birth / fantastic Primitive Art / Pets and People / Creative Cards / Fantastic Primitive Art / Pastel Portraits , Florals and Still Life / Cee’s Fun Artsy Friends This is a portrait of my iguana, Mikie, (my tropical recused pet). I was granted permission to bring Mikie to art class, she is quite big and more than a few students were scared of her. Wimps, lol. Thus, at last, she did not get to stay in the class. I had to take her to the small empty gallery. I refused to leave her there alone so I stayed and drew this. Another student came and started to draw her too. / the drawing was done in soft chalk pastel on black paper. It took about 20- 45 min. to draw. Mikie girl sat so still, just like a poser. LOL she held her hand up like that the whole time. She was a good girl and a wonderful subject. Soon the instructor brought in another teacher to see her. They were amazed at all her bright colors. I explained that she has so much color because she is an apex lizard, and I take great care of her. Most females are not nearly as big and colorful as Mikie is! I had given this to my good friend and Mikie’s godmother, Dana. She and her husband had moved out of state, so it kind of looks like Mikie is waveing bye-bye. / / Copyright / These Images and Writings Do Not Belong To ANY Public Domain. Dragon is a close-up profile of a seemingly fierce (though in reality quite shy) Water Dragon at the National Botanic Gardens, Canberra. Behind the scenes / These creatures may look fierce but in reality are quite timid. And no, they don’t breath fire! I think that this is the first ever pic I have taken of a Horse, close up.
