Kameko Slipon Shoes / / Shoes available at zazzle Kameko is from the ‘Asia Series’ by Karin Taylor / / This piece took a lot of time and patience, I hand painted lots of paper in different colours and cut into tiny pieces to create my mosaics. Then I drew my design and layed the tiny pieces down and glue them all on. Painstaking! I then worked on the image in Photoshop to give it a softer look, I used the filter called ‘Ink Outlines’ and another filter called ‘Watercolour’. In Japanese Kameko means ‘tortoise-child’ symbol for long life. I thought it appropriate, given the tiles which resemble tortoise shell

Ophelia lies down together with these yellow ladies, which she imagines to be twinkling little stars and she, suspending in the dark skies with them. “Oh, I wish I could fly to the moon and kiss the stars goodnight before I sleep every night!” She hooted excitedly to the yellow ladies :D / / / You can view and buy my other “Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars” creations from my Zazzle Gallery: /
THE SINGING OF THE BIRDIE IS MUSIC TO MY EAR. THIS IS A GOLDEN FINCH, WASHINGTON STATE BIRD.. FEATURED IN “PACIFIC NORTHWEST ” ON NOVEMBER 20, 2009
this was part of a little test I gave myself this weekend. I gave myself 5 minutes to sketch out whatever popped in my head , beginning to end 5 minutes , and however it came out was what I was running with …. then 10 minutes cleaning up on the comp , thats the reason for the simplicity of the design :)
Other Collectibles in Children of the World Series / / / / My latest brown paper creation for the “Children of the World” series is the little eskimo “Snow Flower” – she has a little bubba attached to her back…..a string bag slung over one shoulder with her sled – it’s snowing flowers of course. She’s perfect for Christmas is you want to send a little sweetness to a special someone and I’ll be uploading 2 other versions soon, without the Christmas greeting, because these are collectibles for “Children of the World” series as well, and not only Christmas designs. / / / / /
One evening last summer (here in Taos, NM), I took a side detour and spotted this glorious field of bright yellow daisies. This was a commanding sight. The flowers were taller than I, and there was a whole field of them, so I went back with camera in hand. Over to the side of this yellow paradise of wildflowers was a row of purple thistle breaking into bloom. So I’m torn, do I get right in the yellow up past my head and start shooting away or do i figure a way to contrast the yellow and the purple? And then I heard it, this humming happening and there before me were lots and lots of little hummingbirds feeding on all this thistle. so needless to say I went for the wildlife instead. / Canon Rebel xti Kiss, 70-300mm lens / in Taos, New Mexico ❧Featured in: / Playful Photogenic Animals 1.6.10 / Love Affair with the Lens 1.3.10 / Feminine Intent 1.2.10 / New Mexico Group 1.2.10

Kaly along with her brother Simon was dumped by some low life, when they couldn’t have been even 6 weeks old. I had trouble getting them to even eat. My husband and I have 7 cats ,all of which were just dumped out in the country where we live. Kaly & Simon are the newest of the bunch and have turned out to be not only beautiful but a pure joy. A very kind neighbor promised me that if we would take care of them that he would pay to have them both fixed, and he did. It cost a lot to take care of and feed 7 cats good quality food. They both had a rough start but are very safe ,loved and happy with us. Their best friend is Isaac our dog that was another rescue.

I found this little cluster of flowers as I was keeping watch over my garden today. I hope you’ll enjoy this lovely capture! I really tried to highlight the beautiful details as far as the colors and blooms go. I like to just gaze at flowers like this….it leaves me in awe of the beauty & glory that is so often found in nature! Enjoy! Smiles Lielani

Origami Calendar Folded a monkey from a 15×15mm piece of paper. It hangs off the fork pretty well; and even if it falls, at least it won’t go hungry :o). Taken with an Olympus FE-340 on September 28, 2009 Originally my idea was to just have it with the fork alone as monkey bars: Then suddenly had the urge to take it with a banana. I was debating between this shot I have up now and this one: Feel free to advise or if you prefer one of the above. If there is a majority vote, I may switch. For a better idea of scale: He’s got his arm up to look taller; but I can see his head is below the 5mm mark :P Also used the same type on monkey in Monkey Mischief This work has been feature in: / Little Things to Make you Smile / The Woman Photographer
