She’s up to no good again. / 11”x14” Sharpie/Marker on Paper.
I got this reference from Vogue, an ad, and I thought it would be a very cool idea. I liked the color scheme, so I tried to incorporate that in my illustration. I used watercolor for their shirts, and colored pencil for the rest, with a little pen in there.

Every day I put on my mask as part of the ritual of getting ready to face the world. Without it, I feel vulnerable and exposed. My eyeliner is my sword, and my lipstick my shield, and both help me to hide my fears and insecurities and appear untouchable.

I just finished this acrylic painting as a gift for my three teenage granddaughters. They excitedly described a new shower curtain they had just gotten for their new bathroom. They said they were totally into lipstick, high heels, big eyed girls, and lips. Their colors are red and black so this ole grandma ventured into a new wild like territory. This was so much fun to paint and I know it will blow their mind as I usually create conservative realism.
