  • Lion in Krugar Nat Park South Africa

  • Close up encounters with the “Big Five,” on safari through Sabi Sands Reserve in South Africa.

  • While we were visiting Chobe National Park in Africa, we were thrilled to witness the early morning activity of this pride of lions. One of the young lions managed to climb into the lower branches of a tree, but couldn’t seem to get down on his own. A larger lion eventually coaxed it down.

  • This lion seems to enjoy the sunshine on a cool day in Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania.

  • This lion teamed up with another in an attempt to hunt down a waterbuck. The chase was short-lived but very exciting to witness. The waterbuck got away, and the lion remained ever vigilant for its next meal. Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

  • Lioness’ taking in some sun

  • A mother lion, ever watchful.

  • While at the zoo one day, I sat for about two hours watching people come and go, whilst I was waiting for the perfect shot I wanted, then I got it, the lioness came right up to the cage sat infront of me and just gazed up. I had also taken alot of practise shots trying to get focus on the lions whilst eliminating the wire fence. Nikon d40×70 – 300 mm lens manual focus an auto setting

  • Taken in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. Just out of shot is a lioness who was having none of this male’s attentions. Taken with Nikon D300 and Nikon 300mm F3.8 lens from a 4×4 safari vehicle with a large bean bag for support. (I have uploaded this image previously but this one is a large high quality file that I am now offering for sale.)

  • Version 2 – this is a white version for dark backgrounds: This is a design created for travelers visiting or who are in love with Namibia. I wanted to give the whole design this type of stressed look so it fits into the tough and harsh environment and still looks a bit funky. The design showcases the tracks of the front paws from the BIG 5 which are at home in the southern Africa and make Namibia a unique and fascinating country. The BIG 5 game is a phrase which was coined by big-game hunters and refers to the five most difficult (and dangerous) animals in Africa to hunt on foot. The term is still used in most tourist and wildlife guides that discuss African wildlife safaris. The tracks clockwise starting from the top are: leopard, lion, black rhino, buffalo, elephant. Designed August 2009. © Gudrun Eckleben, www.geeart.com • Featured in The Patchwork September 2009 / • Top 10 in Patriotic Tees! challenge September 2009 If you would like to have a darker design on a lighter T-shirt, maybe you would like to have a look at my other design (just click on the artwork to be taken to it):
