  • a lino print i did in art full view needed

  • a lino print i did in art at school.

  • Lino cut print- oil based ink on cartridge paper. Linocut printing for school. We had to do a series of prints at different stages of the cutting- determined by random rules, such as every time the phone rang, or the rooster crowed. It was a challenge to my normally organised mind. The tribal figure was influenced by Rew Hanks’ work featuring Trugganinni, but here I wanted to combine the physical presence of his first eye with the third eye of his dreaming. It represents the loss of cultural identity.

  • Lino cut.

  • PhotoShop treated version of a hand pulled print using a 4” x 4” linoleum block repeated on a piece of ragcloth, approximately 9” x 12”. This is a test run for possible color variations.

  • This is one of a series of many lino cuts printed over digital images that were created in response to my connection with the landscape during my mid year trip to the Kimberley in 2008. / The digital images all came from the trip, as did the energy patterns which I cut into lino. These often came from dreams and were initially recorded in my travel journal – which is an artists book. / I was lucky enough to have six of this collection purchased by Deakin University which made my year really!!!

  • Another lino print over digital print from my Kimberley trip

Well, what can I say? Last week was horrid. It was one of those weeks that I’d like to forget, but probably never will. I will not bore you with the details. I will tell you though, that lino-cutting and The Lord is what brought me through to the better side. I started lino-cutting again after 30 years. It haunts me, in a good way. I am even thinking about going to my local flooring company and looking for scrap pieces that might work so I can cut, cut, cut. Ideas are flooding my mind. The other night, I ran out of linoleum. I told a friend here on RB that I seriously thought about taking a flashlight outside and carving designs on a dormant oak tree. What I am trying to relay is that I am thankful that I picked up my pencil again. We artists are really not happy until we operate in our gifts that we were born with. For many years, I tried to figure out what I was supposed to be doing. Art is one of the main things! I am not the most accomplished artist. My art is what comes out from inside of me. I will not give up again, and I truly hope that none of you do, either. I cherish the new friends I have made here, on RB, and wish you all much success and happiness, and most of all, peace:) catherine
