When the conditions are right where I live we experience the wonderful phenomena of sea fog. The first one I experienced was when I was “in between” cameras. I was devastated! I have been hoping ever since that we would get another one… I peered out the window today while I was on the phone and saw that today was the day! I had to make my apologies to my friend on the phone – a girl has to get her priorities right – and happily spent the next two hours snapping, with my young boys as my photography assistants. The title of this piece is inspired by one of my favourite scenes in Lord of the Rings. Gandalf the mighty wizard gives his life to ensure the freedom of his friends… and so my friend today gave to me the same gift of freedom as I hastily hung up the phone to explore my sea fog.

A street photo taken at Changi Airport, Singapore. Using the natural light as backlighting, these people were quickly snapped in silhouetted as they were walking away. I’m surprised how similar these people are. They echoed each other in terms of being in a pair. Also, the pairs in the foreground are single dad with their only child. All this captured at the time 16:57.

“Happiness always looks small while you hold it in your hands, but let it go, and you learn at once how big and precious it is.” – Maxim Gorky. My sons hand in mine after a day in the garden. © 2007. . . . . . . . . . .

The Slot Canyons of Colorado Plateau never cease to amaze me with their beauty and color. Wandering through this slot for the third time I always seem to find different view. New colors or textures reveal themselves as the day progresses almost as if the light is bottled and then judiciously poured forth for our enjoyment. The brilliant lines and colors of the sandstone walls of Antelope Canyon as mid day light pours in from above.

This one is for RedBubble. I thought it was kinda redbubblelish, on the account of it being red.

Unimaginatively titled, but this is one of a pair that I love for their simplicity. They are both painted in sepia watercolour, an unforgiving medium which means that there is no possibility of hesitation.

For those who dont know what these lines are they are stars. / I set the camera on the B setting and leave the shutter open for upto 10 hrs. / As the earth rotates it gives you these lines.I do not recommend the use of digital cameras for taking startrails

© Claire McAdams / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED I have been fighting with many people that I love lately and I feel like I am just being tossed around by my emotions. I am at home and remembered I had this awesome dress and wanted to do some shots in it so I tried to capture a jump shot in which I looked like I was just flying aimlessly, because that’s kind of how I feel. I thought texture added something cool here but I kept a copy without it because I really like how it looks both with and without texture.

“Let’s stick with cutesy…” is hardly what R.K. told me when I asked her to help remake this police lineup painting. (click me for police lineup girl) “Hello Trouble!” is actually what came outta her mouth during our shoot while she even played the classic by Buck Owens for me in the background. Her rad husband did the background too! I know I’m not even close to 6 feet tall…& until she believed in this, I didn’t have a vixenesque shot in my portfolio. Nobody would take this project on with me until Riley Kern. And now it’s the one shot constantly asked for in prints, or saught after for permission to use. Not only that, but she’s taken my motto, my tattoo – the very attitude that get’s me through many hard days & made a signature shot outta it for me. It’s the one shot I felt comfortable naming “Hello Trouble” Where are my manners!? Let me introduce you to Riley… She’s the honey bee of western pin ups. Her attention to the style surpasses any I’ve ever seen. She pays homage to many classic western pin ups, including Petty’s little stand up base girl…which was mimicked to near perfection. (click me to see Riley Kern) Luckily for all of us she’s decided to pick up the camera herself & get learntt on the stuff!....Not so lucky however, for many photographers out there. So while she plucks out her pretty pictures for ya, she’s drowning out the mediocre guys for us too.
