Acrylic on canvas 1m x 1m / 2005 (original Sold) This painting is about women…being one myself…I found the inspiration to paint that feeling of hiding in plain sight. Where it can feel easier to sink into the background…keeping the inner self hidden…..from harm…from risks….from the world. / But ..really…wanting to bring that hidden woman out to the surface..not be afraid.. but just be.

This stencil was created in early 2008 inspired by fashion photography and damp cold London. Recently cut stencil with one layer from an older stencil of a zebra in pink on her dress, with hand drawn cobbled stones. The canvas itself is 3 times in length this is just a mere snap shot of the original piece. This piece is 1 of 3, utilising the same same stencil and composition of works I’ve posted on Red Bubble at the moment. The other is ‘snow and umbrella’ and ‘rain birds’

This is the second image from outside this winter. I took this Thursday morning while strolling around in the snow storm :) The few trucks that passed me looked at me like I was crazy walking along side the road, and I took very few shots because I was afraid to get my camera too wet but the snow looked amazing. I did some work with this one in photoshop to turn the snow from grey to white- but there really was that much snow that you couldn’t see the road or anything in the distance.

My origami calendar I folded the mother duck out of trace paper around the time I saw ducklings on the way to work; can read about that here. I can’t remember how big the paper was; I believe 13×13mm. The two little ducklings in the centre were folded from 6×6mm pieces of trace paper while the little one at the back was folded from a 5×5mm piece of trace paper. The former railway line that once snaked its way fifteen kilometres from Adamstown to Belmont was originally constructed in the late 1880’s. It was used to transport coal from mines in the Lake Macquarie area to the Port of Newcastle. Evidence of some of the mines is still visible from the track. The Adamstown to Belmont Rail line helped contribute to the development of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. As well as being used for coal haulage, it was used as a passenger service between Belmont and Newcastle with stations at Kahibah, Whitebridge and Redhead. The last scheduled steam train ran in 1967 before switching to diesel and the last passenger train ran in 1971. During the 1980’s coal mines along the corridor began to close down and the line ceased to be used in 1991 with the closure of Lambton B Colliery. The railway closed in 1991, and the two Councils completed the purchase of the corridor in 1994. Shortly after, the Fernleigh Tunnel (having survived two earthquakes in 1925 and 1989) was closed to public access following an assessment of its structural condition. It has since been reopened and this is where I took this photograph.
