taken during Viva Las Vagas 2008, randomly in the Gold Coast Casino by Linda Kramer, working on a book of portraits . I was alone & lost when she found me, plus had hay fever which explains the watery eyes. I was 1 of probably hundreds of people she took that weekend. The book should be worth a gander….

This is an acrylic canvas painting 20” wide x 23” long of Australian Pelicans. Pelicans are beautiful large Black and White water birds. They have very long beaks that have a small hook on the end and a stretching pouch underneath. There are 7 species of Pelicans in the world. Pelicans fly just above the water’s surface in long lines and never dive. Growing up as a child I can remember my Grandfather singing to us…. “Oh a wonderous bird is the Pelican his beak holds more than his belican!” This was painted as a birthday present for a friend of mine who is turning 50 this weekend and her favourite bird is a Pelican. FEATURED IN GOING COASTAL
A Watercolour painting of one of the beautiful views of Wilsons Promotory. Wilsons Promotory is the Southernmost tip of mainland, Australia. The area features sandy beaches and sheltered coves, coastal dunes and swamps It could almost be an island with 80 miles of coastline except for the connection to the mainland at its North East corner. The surrounds are also home to many wildlife including wombats, koalas, wallabies, emus and kangaroos. A peaceful walk along its sandy beaches to refresh one’s soul and bring you closer to nature is surely a desire for all. A stroll alone along the sand / soaking in nature with its magic wand / the air is crisp the day is new / briskly walking enjoying the view….
The sun was shining in the window and back lighting this Double Delight Rose I had just brought in from the garden! :) / I didn’t even think about it I just took the shot. This makes me think that the light was actually coming from “within” the rose! / Like capturing its aura! !It is the largest castle in Wales and the second largest in Britain, Built mainly between 1268 and 1271, it is an early example of a concentric castle. The west mound was extended south to create a dam across the Nant Gledwr, leading to the formation of a large defensive lake south of the main castle. The dam was fortified on both sides and had a gatehouse to the south which received the access road; this where the town of Caerphilly later grew up. The central island was the site of the main structure of the castle, comprising a retaining wall (the middle ward with gatehouses east and west, and an inner ward with east and west gatehouses and circular corner towers. To the west, a further ditch separated the spur forming a western island; this had a retaining wall, and was levelled, but no stone fortifications were built here. To the north a ditch and bank formed a defensive moat. In the final phase the dam was extended north to form another lake to the north of the moat and bank, and a further moat and bank to the west, while an outer gatehouse and outwork in the middle of the dam gave access to the west. The whole was built over a four year period, and the layout was modified only slightly thereafter. the castle covered an area of 30 acres, making it one of the largest castles in Europe.!
An acrylic painting on canvas 40cm x 30cm. It was a beautiful day when we were there at tropical Long Island, Australia, which this painting is based on. The memory lingers on….. Watercolour painting on Arches watercolour paper. I dropped paint onto wet paper then shaped the painting, adding trees and lines to create the desired effect. Winter Begins Autumn recedes and winter steps in / The leaves have all fallen the snow begins. / Falling softly settling on dried leaves / Gimpses of light sparkle through the trees.
