  • For anyone who has already seen my Walkway into the Mist, then this is the same thing taken from a different angle.

  • I painted this particular painting as a gift for a gentleman who stayed at the famous Petwood Hotel during World War II, when he was with 617 Sqdn “The Dambusters” as a Lancaster Bomber Pilot. This beautiful hotel, based in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, England, was home to the world renowned 617 “Dambuster” Squadron, and having stayed there many times myself, it gave me such joy to paint this beautiful building as a present for such a wonderful gentleman. I only hope I have done justice to the wonderful building and beautifully maintained grounds! The original painting is on 28×24 ” Canvas Board. I have had some Ltd Edtn Prints taken off of the original (copies for sale through my website: www.mason-contemporary-arts.co.uk), and the very first hangs proudly in the Petwood Hotel! Commissions of a similar nature are most welcome.

  • Title says it all

  • A HDR photography of the local Church in Hundleby Lincolnshire – taken in March 2008. A beautiful little church set back off the road. i love how the bright blue of one of the gravestones, and the red brick of the tomb stand out… This is the resting place of a friends young mum who unfortunatly died at a young age.

  • Perhaps my most ambitious light painting experiment so far… this is an HDR sandwich of images each with different areas and intensities of light fill along with other ambient only shots, in an attempt to define & isolate details whilst retaining the surreal hues you get from ‘reciprocacy failure’.

  • I love handmade sausage, cheese and cider so a stroll around the recent European Food Market in Louth – and all the free samples that entailed – was an opportunity not to be missed. While most other people shot views, I decided to go for details. On the basis that I’d just bought a large bottle of dry vintage Normandie Cidre, the stall owner was quite happy for me to spend a few moments shooting this string of smoked garlic close up. Believe it or not I actually desaturated this one by 50% – and am quietly pleased with HDR and ‘rustic warmth’...

  • Urban archeology is all around if you look… Windmill Pine has a pair of overhead cranes, each rated up to 10 tons – which is a bit excessive for hefting furniture. Besides which, WP used the cranes as ad-hoc mountings for air ducts – rendering them immovable – which suggests this building owes the greater part of it’s heritage to heavy engineering… Sited on the location of the Wm Foster tractor works [inventors and manufacturers of the world’s first tanks], and just across the road from Rustons [a peace time competitor and fellow tank works], it wouldn’t surprise me if this buliding was used for the production of heavy [agricultural?] equipment at some point.

  • Lincolnshire poppies taken earlier this year also used as a backdrop for my web site http://tommy.987mb.com

  • The Iconic statue in Lincoln that bridges the river. The first time i have shot the statue from the bridge. The swans swimming made this a double interesting shot. EOS 40D + 50mm f/1.8 + R72

  • View of the junction in the village of Birthorpe, Lincolnshire. Taken on Ilford Delta 100 with a Zero Image 2000 pinhole camera.

  • Early morning on a road in the Lincolnshire Wolds in England.

  • A juvenile Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus). This shot was taken at Donna Nook in Lincolnshire on the east coast in the UK. This bird was taking advantage, along with a lot of other gulls, of the plentiful supply of food at the Grey Seal colony here, during the pupping season. A sad fact of nature that there are mortalities during this time, the mortalities include still-born pups, pups deserted by inexperienced cows & cows that died after giving birth. But, that’s nature keeping things in balance and providing food for other creatures, both small & large.

  • Lincoln Cathedral (in full The Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Lincoln, or sometimes St. Mary’s Cathedral) is a historic Anglican cathedral in Lincoln in England and seat of the Diocese of Lincoln in the Church of England. It was reputedly the tallest building in the world for nearly a quarter of a millennium (1300–1549), though this height has been questioned.[1] The central spire collapsed in 1549 and was not rebuilt. It is highly regarded by architectural scholars; the eminent Victorian writer John Ruskin declared, “I have always held… that the cathedral of Lincoln is out and out the most precious piece of architecture in the British Isles and roughly speaking worth any two other cathedrals we have.” Please visit my website PaulThompsonPhotography Canon 5DMk2 / F11 / ISO 100 / 16mm full frame HDR / 1 Raw File splt into 3 exposures -2/0/+2 / Photomatix
