Most of the leaves had all fallen, Fall was well on its way to turn into Winter. Standing all by itself, that beautiful old tree seemed quite stately to me.
the growing end of a limb of our huge Blue Spruce /
This Red Squirrel didn’t seem concerned that I was near by. Seems to say “I’m hangin’ out without a care in the world.”
Maimed and cold, patiently waiting for better times… and company! This tree, overlooking the St. Lawrence river, has had a limb broken in December by an ice storm, followed by strong winds. Shot in my neighborhood, in the Parc de la Promenade in Candiac, Quebec, Canada. The misty cityscape in the background is that of Montreal. Applied Orton effect to enhance the mood. Focal length 24mm / ISO-100 / Aperture f/8 / Shutter 1/250 sec. Taken in my backyard of the squirrel raiding the bird feeder…it appears to be over the water but actually just on the edge… / / /
Late evening light cast a reflection of a cottonwood tree - still bare from winter - onto the lake surface at Powder Creek reservoir in Nebraska. The ripples moving very gently across the glassy water distorted the mirrored image giving it this abstract quality which reminds me of shades of brown and tan oil paints being squeezed out onto the surface of a canvas. / /

I KNOW THAT I’LL NEVER BE AS GOOD AT PHOTOGRAPHING INSECTS AS MARLEIA MAIN IS ( HOW MANY OF US WILL )...BUT, DAMMIT, I’M GONNA KEEP ON TRYING !!! / I GOT THIS FELLOW ON THE EDGE OF SHANK LAKE IN THE OAKWOODS NATURE PRESERVE IN FINDLAY, OHIO. CAMERA: FUJI FINEPIX S2 PRO / LENS: TAMRON 75-300 MM @ 300 MM / F~5.6 1/750 SEC 100 ASA
The bald eagle’s eyes have 2 centers of focus enabling it to not only see forward but also to the side at the same time. It is able to spot fish underwater while soaring several hundred feet in the air. It is able to spot its prey up to a mile away. Its vision is 4 times greater than a human with 20/20 eyesight. / This eagle, on Lake of the Woods, Ontario was in a Jack pine tree about 25 feet high. THe photo was taken with a Sony a300 and Minolta AF f8 500 reflex lens.
What a beautiful day. The birds are singing, the limbs in the trees are swinging, and the foxes are barking. Just beautiful. Also available as a artwork / http://www.redbubble.com/people/atrumentis/art/3889676-2-irretitus
