Lotus Glow
by DouzyThe original was just a normal white lotus on water with leaves underneath. Then on a really basic software I moved the black point to the right and the background went fully black!! Then I turned the colours towards “cold” and these colours came up!! (who needs photoshop really ;))

This is the second HDR image shot the other day on my girlfriend’s property.. I was inspired to try my hand at an HDR involving a dam after seeing some of the brilliant work here on the Bubble.. I think it turned out well and I liked how the image almost looks as though it is bent if you look at the tree line.. / As always comments are most welcome! Thanks a lot for looking! On a visit to the Jardin Botanique in Montreal I was captivated by the Chinese Garden. Various ponds and streams had huge floating islands of lily pads. But it was not until I rested that I discovered these two lily pads and the reflections, just over the side of the bench I was sitting on. Taken in macro mode. When I approached to take a picture he kept trying to hide and eventually ran across the water and hopped on this lily pad in the middle of the pond. He stayed there until I left and when I looked back he swam back to shore. I thought he was so cute as if to say “I am safe here because you can’t see me on this lily pad” Nikon D90

The exquisite beauty of this water lily takes my breath away. In some ways, it seems too perfect to be real. I arrived to shoot just after an afternoon rain storm had washed everything clean. I love each water drop and the way the light bounces off of them. The tips of the flower look like they’ve been dipped in liquid plastic, and the purple is such a delightful contrast to the bright yellow.
