30”x 40” acrylic on Number 80 Bainbridge Board cold-pressed. I used gesso to cover the beginnings of something I had started a long time ago. I have been working on this off and on for the past couple of weeks…...... between giving time to two grandsons, ten cats, and a dog. First large painting, and first flowers I have done in a while. My inspiration has been all the wonderful florals I have seen on RedBubble! There are so many beautiful paintings and drawings on this site….....all are an inspiration for me to paint and draw again.

The Peach Daylily is from my garden and is now part of my photo collection...I took it one rainy day this past summer…I am mad about Daylilies and have many varieties which I show on a website I set up specifically to showcase my garden….see painted Daylilies from my RB pages below… The Daylily is a plant of the genus Hemerocallis, in the lily family, consisting of about 15 species of perennial herbaceous plants distributed from central Europe to eastern Asia. They range in colour from yellow to red and are each short-lived (hence “day” lily). Daylilies have fleshy roots and narrow, sword-shaped leaves that are grouped at the base of the plant. Digital Imagery – single pond lily with reflection. The original photo was taken at the Geo. Langman Wildlife Sanctuary in Oro-Medonte Twp, about a 5 minute drive from our house. he George Langman Wildlife Sanctuary is roughly 65 acres of pond, swamp, marsh, trails and, of course, wildlife. The sanctuary is maintained by the Orillia Fish and Game Conservation Club, and they give generously of their time (and money) to help maintain this. The gates are open 365 days a year – which I find incredible. Many provincial parks in Ontario are not open all year long (Bass Lake Provincial Park, just ‘across the way’ from the sanctuary is closed through winter). Using a combination of Rebrandt pastel sticks and CarbOthello pastel pencils, I used very vivid colors with some contrasting tones to capture this beauty.
