For years I only took black and white. I swear I actually SAW in black and white most of the time…. Now I take mostly color, but every once in a while I like to go back to my roots…..I still like black and white best.

As I was taking in the beauty of this Cali Lilly. I thought that the lighting was perfect to cast a shadow of the stamen inside. Natures way of lighting up the world.

A quick drawing of Lillies with pastel pencils on black canson paper. A4 In spring time mother nature wakes up from the bleakness of winter. / Lambs frolic in the fields, flowers bloom and we humans start to walk with a spring in our step. Through drawing these flowers I hope to embody the idea of spring. These blooms although predominantly white have a lovely flush of pink in their centres. The blossoming of these beauties symbolizes the changing of the season. I’m hoping that I have been able to capture the vibrant colours and energy that spring evokes.

I m so proud of how this turned out, it was a bunch of lilies my mother had and I took one from her vase outside and posed it in front of the sun hoping to enhance/light the flower, when I checked them out at home and found this one I was so please with the result. Little spring wonders, these incredibly tiny flowers, most about the size of a hat pin’s pearl top, are growing like crazy on the dark side of our house. Shade loving plants, these really thrive and look great mixed with Hosta. They bloom in the early to mid spring creating a carpet of little lovelies!
