after many many hours and km’s…. this storm was dead and I thought I had missed a ‘dream shot’. The lightinging had become so sparse it seemed ridiculous even sitting on the beach to watch, yet alone be set up to photograph lightning ! / But alas ! this storm had one final freak discharge to exult to earth….ahhh….patience and persistence. :) / / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / / / see more of my weather related photography by clicking below / /

A powerful daytime lightning strike pounds the pine plantation only 500m away…this transperancy looks spectacular when projected. see more of my meteorology photography at / thunderstorms

Equitana Melbourne 2008 gave us a Western Spectacular night, which was based around a rodeo competition with a few western show events given a spotlight between rounds. Cowboy dismounts across the pick-up horse/rider after a successful 8 second ride – no extra bone-shaking for this guy! (taken with Canon G10 & sharpness played with for better depth)

Equitana Melbourne 2008 gave us a Western Spectacular night, which was based around a rodeo competition with a few western show events given a spotlight between rounds. This bareback rider was in for the long haul … (taken with Canon G10 & sharpness edited for variation & fun!)

I have been told the bright flashes at the bottom are tracers. I know there were no cars out there and there was no other source of light except what came from the sky. When I saw this, I went back in the house and gave up trying to get any more shots – call me chicken if you will. But I went back in the house. Taken without a tripod and on the speed/sport setting on my camera. (ok – so call me chicken lucky!)

On Sanibel Island, Florida, there was a darling little shop called She Sells Seashells by the Seashore; this image looks like something that might be sold there. The lightning whelk I photographed is the first shell I found on the island on the first morning my husband and I hit the beach to look for treasures.
