  • This piece is an impressionist look at one moment in a thunderstorm. Lightning flashes across the sky and adds illumination to the proverbial dark and stormy night. This piece is based on those Louisiana storms that slip in and surprise us. The largest sizes of this piece would seem somewhat abstract on close examination. Step back, and it all comes together. It would lend an interesting effect in a large room.

  • An acrylic painting 16”x 12”(41cm x 31cm) of lightning. Just before lightning strikes, thunderstorms release bursts of X-rays and gamma rays. This is what causes the amazing electrical patterns of light. This one is straight out of my imagination, and rather different from my usual bright paintings, but we have been having some storms lately so thought it appropriate. Lightning flashing all around / streaks of white hitting the ground / Loud cracks fill the air / take a walk, if you dare! Lightning Storm was featured on the Homepage!

  • Driving, at night. Tech info: / The lights are a combination of traffic lights and street lights. The camera was set to 10 second exposure, 100 ISO and f/8, and was held steady on the dashboard when driving down a steep hill. The light trails left behind are an effect of time-lapse photography, also called “light painting”. Photo cropped, straightened and colours brightened in post-production, but no major photoshop alternation included. TaraAntonia.com / Flickr portraits / DeviantART

  • It was a day and night of huge clouds. Storm clouds, big puffy and clouds of shapes. “Elephants, faces, etc…you know the kind! Anyhow, I shot so many different cloud pictures that I didn’t know what to do with them!! Then I decided to layer some together to see what would happen and this image is the result of that. All the colors began to come out as I layered, none was added digitally. There was some pics with the sun still shining, others with the rain pouring…. ..I think this is pretty and I believe now that there really is a “silver lining, and/or that pot of gold which can be found after the storm :)

  • Oil pastel and acrylics on 36” x 36” canvas. / 2009 Copyright. All Rights Reserved to Mariam Muradian. The images for these three paintings kept bombarding me all through the nights, and were relentless until I painted them out. The bombarding had the nature of collated, rapid fire Gatling gun – like subliminal raw ingredients. It felt like I was having seizures the whole time of creation. Painting was like a fire storm! An explotion on canvas! There was no planning, technique, or preconception here. These came straight through me without stopping! I still have no clue what they are about or why they had such an urgency attached to them. Their intensity is very difficult for me to go back and look at now that they are finished…do not know why. I just had a sense that they have something to do with the transferrence or the taking of power. Sometimes I believe I am just an art lightning rod. Would love to hear your insights!

  • Watercolors on paper. 15X11 inch (28X38 cm) This picture was born when I was laid off.
