This piece was made with my photos, a royalty-free image of a dress (that was altered significantly) and part of a free texture from Advanced Photoshop magazine. The title and image is partly inspired by a Tori Amos song off her album The Beekeeper with the same title.

This is a corridor of The Louvre, Paris. The Louvre is the largest museum in France and the most visited in the world. It is also the home of the Mona Lisa, arguably Da Vinci’s most famous and mysterious work. The Louvre was build in the 12th Century and initially qas a fortress for Philip II. 400 years later it became a display house of Louis XIV, and in 1793, was opened for it’s first exhibition. It was closed again until 1801 due to structural damage, when it reopened. Today the Louvre houses over 380,000 pieces of art, across 8 departments. I spent 4 hours in there and only got to see 1/8 of the entire building. Two textures added to this one and a slight adjustment of colour and contrast to make it look like an old photo of an aristocratic past. Slight crop also, to take out the tops of the many visitors heads that were in frame. Labyrinths have always had a magical and slightly daunting effect on me. Possibly influenced by the David Bowie / Jennifer Connelly 80s movie. Walking around in the walls of a labyrinth, you have lost all your friends, but can still hear them in the distance, somewhere. Not sure where you are or where you are going, you stumble across an open area, an old forest. You see a makeshift burrow, made out of old stones, looks like it’s been there for hundreds of years. As you get closer, you hear soft whimpering coming from within. As you get to the old wooden door, you can clearly hear a child crying inside. That’s when you hear the growling behind you… Taken in Prague, along an old overgrown path, on the way to the hill that overlooks the whole city. I clearly remember looking at this and having a small shiver.
