Despite the eerie effect of interstellar high-speed flying, this is an Australian native plant known as a Yakka bush. / ... / Shot at waist level, staring into a perfectly spherical yakka, this can hurt the eyes: Walking into these long thin green blades would do severe retina damage. / ... / Probably the same effect as “going to light-speed” into the sun. #NOTE:# Known as Xanthorrhoea priessii, the Yakka plant is a grass-tree, also spelled yacka. To engage in Hard Yakka is a common phrase in the Australian lexicon. One of Australia’s most well-known brands of work clothing is entitled Hard Yakka. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes. – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Featured in the Group All About Hearts March 1st, 2009 / Took the 4th place in Top 10 in the Challenge Favorite light painting shot in the Group Painting with Light May 28, 2009 / Featured in the Group Painting with Light May 29, 2009 / I was playing with candle lights and slow speed yesterday. / It is quite fun. / This art-work is done from 4 photos mixed together using Photoshop CS2, using modes blending. WILD AND FREE / / Two cheetah cub brothers sitting on a termite mound. Taken early one morning about half an hour after sunrise. (Masai Mara – Kenya) / / The world’s fastest land animal, the cheetah, is a unique and the most specialized member of the cat family and can reach speeds of 70 mph. Unlike other cats, the cheetah has a leaner body, longer legs, and has been referred to as the greyhound of the cats. It is not an aggressive animal, using flight versus fight. With its weak jaws and small teeth, the price it paid for speed, it cannot fight larger predators to protect its kill or young. The cheetah was once a common animal found on five continents, but is slowly losing its race for survival and is now classed as an Endangered Species! Shimpū Tokkōtai (jap. 神風特攻隊) is the Japanese name for the Kamikaze special troops. Kamikaze (jap. 神風, literally: “God-wind”, “god speed”, “light wind”, “spirit-wind” or “divinity-wind”; common translation: “divine wind”) is a word of Japanese origin, which in English usually refers to the suicide attacks by military aviators from the Empire of Japan against Allied shipping, in the closing stages of the Pacific campaign of World War II, to destroy as many warships as possible.
