Montefalco Series #04 – A set of old stairs through changing light of morning, noon and dusk
by Keith RichardsonThis alleyway, with its old external wooden staircase, was just around the corner from our apartment, so I photographed it often over our month there. Here we see contrasting against one another, the varying light conditions throughout a typical day. / Montefalco / Located between Rome to the south and Florence to the north, is a small walled hill-town called Montefalco. / “A little piece of heaven” some have called it, Montefalco (pop. 5600) is situated high in the Colli Martani, with a 360 degree view of the surrounding countryside. On a clear day, you may not be able to see forever, but you can see across the gorgeous Vale de Umbria to Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto, Trevi, Bevagna, Foligno, Bettano, Pissignano and a collection of other small towns and villages. Below the town lies the flood plain of the Clitunno River. / Montefalco, the birthplace of no less than eight saints, is in the middle of Umbria’s most important grape growing and wine producing country. / We lived here for a month, and my photography followed a number of themes, evidenced by the images in this series. / Links to the other photos in this series are in this journal article / CARD: / FRAMED:

A profile shoot for work using a make shift backdrop. I stood back for a moment to notice some nice shadows and ominous looking dark shadows avoiding the attention of the lights!

The setting sun tinges the sky a burnt copper colour while casting the surrounding trees framing the sky into deep shadows. Captured in Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park in southern Alberta, Canada. Taken with a Canon Rebel XSi using an 18-55mm lens.
