A pair of street lamps I passed today resting after a long night’s work. They are humble folk who just need the occasional seat to help us out. Also part of the series of T-shirts:

Netted Rhodotus. Only one member of this species/family of mushroom….found mainly in the state I live in. Only found in the United States that I know of. / This mushroom is extremely unique in that it must go thru a ‘dry’ spell then a nice wet spell in order for the cap to achieve it’s distinct pattern of webbed texture. When I first found these I could not find in any identification book as most photos showed it either before the ‘webbing’ stage or after they’d started to rot. / THE favorite mushroom of mine to see and photograph.
Camera Details: / Nikon D70s , Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC Location: / Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, The Netherlands Map: / Road Map , Terrain , Satellite Copyright: / © Brendan Schoon , All rights reserved. Background Information: / The Erasmusbrug (“Erasmus Bridge”) is a cable stayed bridge across the Nieuwe Maas river, linking the northern and southern halves of the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands. / The Erasmusbrug was designed by Ben van Berkel and completed in 1996. The 808 metre long bridge has a 139 metre-high asymmetrical pylon, earning the bridge its nickname of “The Swan”. The southern span of the bridge has a 89 metre long bascule bridge for ships that cannot pass under the bridge. The bascule bridge is the largest and heaviest in West Europe and has the largest panel of its type in the world. The bridge was officially opened by Queen Beatrix on September 6, 1996, having cost 165 million Dutch guilders (about 75 million euros) to construct. Shortly after the bridge opened to traffic in October 1996, it was discovered the bridge would swing under particularly strong wind conditions. To reduce the trembling, stronger shock dampers were installed. The bridge was featured in the 1998 Jackie Chan film Who Am I? In 2005 several planes flew underneath the bridge as part of the “Red Bull Air Race”. In 2005, the bridge served as the backdrop for a performance by Dj Tiësto titled “Tiësto @ The Bridge, Rotterdam”. The performance featured fire fighting ships spraying jets of water into the air in front of the bridge, a fireworks barge launching fireworks beside the bridge, and multi colored spot/search lights attached to the bridge itself. If there was a choice between using a regular escalator or climbing ten flights of those stairs, I would choose the stairs without any hesitation! It has to be a happy climb! The Palais des Congrès in Montreal, Quebec, is a genuine feast for the eyes. It’s a convention center with a design relying mostly on its fabulous coloured windows. The effect is absolutely delightful, casting gorgeous colours both inside and outside the building, like a giant kaleidoscope. Focal length 55mm / ISO-200 / Aperture f/9 / Shutter 1/250 sec. ‘Made public’ by request. This is in the Victorian Village at Flambards theme park, Helston, Cornwall, UK. It is an actual reconstruction of Victorian times, with the sounds and smells to match the era. During last weeks trip to Melbourne I went on an evening stroll and found this line of columns and light at the front of the General Post office (GPO) in the heart of the city. The lines and shapes made for an interesting almost abstract look. The tunnel effect here puzzled me at first as there seemed to be a line working bottom right to top left as well. It was as if the bottom left of the shot separated itself from the rest of the image…...maybe it was just because I was tired by then!!!!! Now that I look at it again is it a line that works from bottom Left to the right???? Lines – lines – lines…..... Canon 400D – 17-85 lens.

Deep sea fishing has displaced much of the fish population from its natural habitat. In response, many of these fish have been forced to live in urban environments, where they have learned to change and adapt to survive these harsh new conditions.
