Warrior of the Light / “A warrior of the light does not spend his days trying to play the role that others have chosen for him. A warrior of the light does not waste his time listening to provocations; he has a destiny to fulfil. A warrior of the light knows his own faults, but he also knows his own qualities. A warrior of the light always does his best and expects the best of others. A warrior knows that the farthest-flung star in the Universe reveals itself in the things around him. It is even more difficult to define a path for yourself. The person who doesn’t make a choice dies in the eyes of the Lord, even though he continues to breath and to walk about the streets. For a man has to choose therein lies his strenght in the power of his decisions. When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream. When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it. You can become blind by seeing each day as a similar one. Each day is a different one, each day brings a miracle of its own. It’s just a matter of paying attention to this miracle.” / Paulo Coelho
An original pastel painting on blue colourfix pastel paper of a Leucadendron in my garden. Size – 46cm x 67cm 2007 Original for sale. Has been featured in ‘Contemporary Pastel Painters’ group.
The main stencil image is one layer of the four layer stencil I created in early 2008 inspired by my interest in fashion photography. ‘Snow and Umbrella’ is 1 of 3, utilising the same same stencil and composition of works I’ve posted on Red Bubble at the moment. The other is ‘Rain Birds’ and ‘Umbrella and Rain’.

The North Sea at Whitby. The Herring boats at misty dawn, / To get the details of the boats correct, I’ve used a Victorian photo as the subject. I liked the very hard pen ink lines of the foreground, contrasting with the soft, misty, wet-in-wet background. 90 lb watercolour, medium rough paper. / 12”x8”
What can I say, I love garlic

The weather for this years Winter Magic Festival was a bit of everything. But even though there was rain and fog and it was cold… it didn’t stop the crowds from enjoying themselves! Late in the afternoon the mist started to roll in and it was getting dark.. a few storeholders were starting to pack up but the street was still full of people. I took a photo at the time because I really liked the atmosphere and then when I had my week away recently, I let myself start to play with it! This is the result so far… I think I would like to try a few other ideas too… : )) Mixed Media on canvas paper. / 40.5×60
This is the 3rd installment of my seasons series, it took me some time to get down the mood for this one.
When I learned the song Au Claire de la Lune I was 9 years old and in my mind I saw this image very clearly. I guess I didn’t want the candle to be dead and I suppose I mixed up the candle and the death and the letter writing and the moonlight and love and princesses and all the other things little 9 year old girls think about into one colorful image. I’m really happy to be able to “see it for real” now. Corel Painter Essentials 4. / /
