  • Oil pastels on black A3 paper. / used a reference photo a wonderful friend took of me. thank you so much for that. / Classical style isn’t it. I’m enjoying oil pastels at the moment. I’m looking into blending techniques mostly. And yay! foreshortening! A lil. A girl full of hate falls in love too easily for her own good. kicking and screaming into paradise just to burn it down in an attempt to keep warm by a fire. she can hold back the tears but she can’t stop causing them. Oh how it hurts, more than ripping slowly at her own flesh, unstoppable by the numbing vodka that burns it’s way down her throat, keep swallowing, don’t breathe, maybe you’ll choke on it you stupid girl.

  • Captured in rural Boulder County, Colorado….let me just say this was honest to God unbelievable to photograph. I had to handhold these shots because of my bum knee and well, the lightning was going crazy right above me. But I managed to get some dang nice shots off. This being one of them. I am really happy with this one, I debated about a square crop, but in the end I figured why the heck not, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right folks? • CHALLENGE WINNER : “skyscape” Landscape Painting Group / Original Size 30×30cm / Oil on Canvas Scott Naismith website

  • This calendar shows a selection of recent paintings from Glasgow based landscape artist Scott Naismith. Scott uses vivid colours in a vigorous application to represent the fast changing light conditions of the West coast of Scotland. Colour use often becomes an entirely emotional response to the subject while tone can remain representational. The love he has for his native Scottish countryside is portayed in his work through an ebullient energy with which he handles the colour with pallette knife and brush.

  • My depiction of the legendary Badak Api or “Fire Rhino.” Thus sayeth Wikipedia: / “There are legends about rhinoceros stamping out fire in Malaysia, India, and Burma. The mythical rhinoceros has a special name in Malay, badak api, where badak means rhinoceros and api means fire. The animal would come when a fire is lit in the forest and stamp it out.” In this artwork I portrayed the Badak Api as a wise-looking red beast, whose horn sheds a glowing light as he patrols the forests looking for fires to stamp out. My drawing is based off of the Black Rhino, a critically endangered species of Rhino from Africa. Original artwork is 11×14 on Canson paper and is a mixed media piece featuring oil pastels, marker, and gold paint pen. View more of my artwork at www.lynnetteshelley.com
