  • BEST VIEWED LARGER* / The colours of dawn are shown being reflected through buildings in the North Sydney CBD, my attention was drawn by the light entering that building in the middle allowing it to shine through whole floors. The shot was taken from the 10th floor of my buiding, where I work. This was taken using my Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200mm lens, hand held using multiple bracketed shots, then finally processed using Photomatix HDR Software. My HDR adventure continues

  • In my series; Painting the Masters, at Shipley art gallery. This one is Lamesley, a little hamlet just outside Gateshead. / By J.A. Dees. A local unknown artist, from an indeterminate time. Watercolour 16” x 12”

  • Acrylic painting. This painting was inspired by the lake that we visit in Northern California. The trees are so thick and there are layers and layers. I would love to work on more like this and get a better feel for the trees, but for now I enjoyed finding a way to show the beautiful pines as the caught a Moment of Sun. / / /

  • “There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you ….. In spring, summer and fall people sort of have / an open season on each other; only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when / you can savor belonging to yourself.” / - Ruth Stout / /

  • This was taken from inside Bootham Bar . Scots be prepared for the story in the link This is one of those lucky moments. I was shooting the light and shadow pattern on the Yorkshire flagstones, when a tourist stepped into the doorway. Taken in the City Of York in North Yorkshire and converted into infrared.

  • On the hillside heading through the back roads to Leyburn in the Yorkshire Dales, you get this view down Wensleydale. On this day, the light was playing the clouds, the coldness of the winter day can be seen by the different cloud shapes and types. Whilst the tree seemed to be painting the sky Shot in the Yorkshire Dales

  • Taken at the top of Buttertubs pass in the North Yorkshire Dales, this is the point where the road starts heading into Wensleydale, where you end up at either Hawes or Hardraw. The views along this road are stunning and the light bouncing off the snow created this bright bowl against the fast passing clouds above.

  • This one was taken at popular surfing spot Cat Bay on the North West coast of Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia. Got here with the hope of getting some nice long exposures of the high tide coming in and then the clouds opened up… Taken with my Canon 40D and 10-22mm wide angle lens as well as poalrising, graduated and ND filters. • Early morning outside McDonalds on Bury New Road. This is a Bus speeding past. Elements of this image were used for Hondas ‘Drive Every Drop’ advertising campaign.

  • This is a view of the Lees, a headland between Sandhaven Beach and Marsden Bay in South Shields. With the light changing every second on the sea and beach, it was a changing and yet unchanging scene of the shore. Converted into a pinhole style black and white

  • This alleyway is located directly opposite where I have been picking up either one or both of my children from school for the past 8 years…. It has the feel of a very familiar and friendly place. The ‘locals’ who ask for a dollar or two for their next hit reasonably regularly quite understand if some of the time I can’t help them out…. / Every now and then I’d mention to my son that it would be really good to get a photo of this alley, and he’d keep on telling me – ‘But Muum – you should have your camera with you ALL THE TIME’. He’s right. Sony Alpha 350, Tokina 19-35mm Lens, Focal Length 24mm @ f4.0, 1/50 Sec Exp, ISO 400. Taken in July (mid-winter) just as the evening light was fading at a great rate, and it was just beginning to rain a little… O – and I just have to add again, that this image looks LOTS better LARGE… :)))

  • The last thing of safety and the first sight of safety for sailors, the harbour light. Taken in South Shields with Tynemouth behind this part of the harbour wall at the mouth of the River Tyne Converted into a black and white pinhole effect and best viewed large

  • Like some watch tower of ancient times, this stack in Marsden Bay in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, just caught a fast moving spot light of the sun through the clouds. The broken rock and pebbles on the shore seemed to be mirrored by the clouds as they raced over. Converted into pinhole black and white to highlight the almost prehistoric feel to this bit of coast line Best viewed large.
