This photo was taken just south of Fraser Island in Queensland. With a 30 second exposure at f10 this gave the picture a fairly surreal feel about it.
This shots got a lot of different meanings for me. I see it as waking from yourself, as if lifting from your body-escaping.And also this spirit that can never lie to rest. hope you like this shot, took me ages to wait till the light outside was right :-)
Blue water drop
Looking through the bus window on the way home, I see this playful movement of light and dark shades, between leaves and branches. It is a moment to be captured. Real image with no additional painting… The light painted it on my camera’s ccd sensor! I have set the camera on manual zoom, manual speed and aperture, so that the motion can be capture on shutter release. Behind the glass window of a moving bus, I hunt for the right angle of sun and the right tree, and follow throught the target like taking an image of a sport player. All about timing and a bit of luck! Love to see critiques and comments. All welcome. Long exposure shot with my Contax G2 at a station in Birmingham UK. I hope to expand this image into a series maybe a similar shot on ever station on this line. Ambitious but I would be very happy if I had a collection of similar quality images. f16 / about 30 second exposure. / Kodak Gold 200 / Tripod mounted
Looking south from Caves Beach Jervis Bay. One of these “I don’t believe this” moments. One of the problems with Royal NP (where I shoot most of my photos) is that it’s under the flight path for Sydney airport which is a problem at night because I end up getting lots of distracting light trails from the planes (there is often no more than 90 seconds between one plane flying out of a frame and another flying in). Given it takes 10 minutes to start getting decent star trails you end up with 10 plane trails in the shot. / So me and my partner headed south to the almost equally gorgeous national park at Jervis Bay 2.5 hours south of Sydney. Whoopee I thought – no planes. And then, just as I pressed the shutter this tiny light plane flew into frame. My first reaction was #$Q #%$## what do you have to do to get away from aircraft and I nearly closed the shutter. But then I thought just leave it and take another shot after this one. So I left it and it turned out to be my favourite shot of the start trails I took that night. The white glow is the Milky Way and the orange glow is from a village on the other side of the bay. / Tv: 619secs / Av: f/3.5 / ISO: 200 / FL: 17MM / Canon 30D
Even though I made this years ago, I was just looking at this piece in my new frame of mind and i see what I was really trying to show myself….the light of love…its there in all of us the light of love that can heal our souls and carry us upward into forever… / Amazing secrets our art can show us, always take the time to look into everything and find the hidden keys that will unlock your chains….quest for freedom and light and love…. *Resurrected this one from 2006, refreshed and revised with new fresh colors just in time for Valentines Day : ) / Made with Apophysis and played with in Photoshop (twice) / This makes we want to get back into fractal art….
Abstract Fractal that resembles a bright blue butterfly
The only things done to this photo: cropping / brightness/contrast / slight saturation change
WHat particularly drew me to this scene were the patterns of light and shadow on the rocks and leaves. Taken on an Autumn afternoon in Jacob’s Fork River, South Mountain State Park, NC. Figuring out a way to get from one slippery and mossy rock to another in order to take the photo was a real challenge too-especially carrying tripod and camera equipment. / Nikon D50, 42mm,F22 ,2 sec / viewed 937 times as of 11/06/09 / /
This was taken on a trip to Costa Rica. The waterfall was located deep in the forest and only reached after 2 hours trek. This natural light was stunning and the water itself incredibly invigorating, if not a bit cold! BUS GOING PAST AT NIGHT BY BIG BEN LONDON / long exposure of 4 seconds with fujifil s9600 /
Image was taken in Washington DC, at one of the many Metro stations. I love the contrast between items in motion and the stationary objects. Processed with Redynamix to give it a slight HDR feel. Taken with Nikon D50 and Nikkor 18-70mm lens.
Evening light on rocks at Playa Ventura, Mexico.
Late afternoon at Port Willunga South Australia. Looking out towards the setting sun through the remains of the Old Jetty structure. Not overly sure about the colours here, strange evening with orange red clouds and just dark enough to get a slight amount of motion in the foreground. Canon 400D, 18 -55 lens, CIR Polarising filter coupled with an ND4. Wet legs and a wet tripod, standing out in the water trying to avoid waves!!!!!!
Under the pier at Cowes, Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia at Dawn. Taken at the same time as Beginning of a new day for something a little bit different. It was pretty chilly, windy and way too early in the morning for me, it’s amazing how much lens distortion you get with a wide angle lens! / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. Please see RoyAllenHunt’s written piece: Are You Ok With This. His incredible song is a compliment to this piece. See here for how I created this shot. I really thought I would wait at least two weeks before I tried this again, but then I went hunting in the pantry and found more dye and well, curiosity and motivation got the better of me tonight! Red and green dye this time around. Green was dropped in first, and allowed to swirl around a fair bit, then the red came in. It looked so much like blood coursing through someone, or something..
