  • Long exposure of Perch Rock Lighthouse situated at the mouth of the Mersey in New Brighton.

  • Featured in History July 4, 2009. / Featured in Going Coastal April 11, 2009. / Featured in Live, Love, Dream 9/8/08 this image was shot with a Nikon D40x using an 18-135 lens. Since I was shooting into the sun, it was put through photoshop and worked on with “levels,” “highlights and shadows,” and “Gaussian Blur.” I also gave it a bit of a cropping and changed the color of the sky from white to blue. Nubble Light House is located in York, Maine. Photo taken September, 2008.

  • A dramatic sunrise from the beach at Shaldon, South Devon, England. View the rest of our portfolio here Or visit our own website here

  • Split Rock Lighthouse operated from 1910 until 1969. The Split Rock Lighthouse is located in Two Harbors, Minnesota. The lighthouse commands a panoramic view of Lake Superior from the 130 foot cliff from which it stands on. Built after a 1905 fierce storm that sank one ship nearby and more than 30 others on Lake Superior. Superior is the most unpredictable, deepest, and coldest of the Great Lakes. Processed as a HDR it would make a beautiful card or picture to hang on any wall. Photographer / Robert Berry Best Viewed at Full Size! / Nikon D80 Nikor 50mm Lense / / Nikon D80 18-135mm Nikkor Lense

  • I was seldom able to see an opportunity until it had ceased to be one. Mark Twain (1835 –1910)

  • Over Christmas I decided to take a break from sitting around in front of the TV and stuffing my face with chocolate / nuts / dates etc, and ventured down to the seafront at Dovercourt, Essex to try and capture one of the lighthouses there. It was cold – the windchill meant the temperature was hovering around the -2 mark. Oh, how I envy our Antipodean cousins…! 1 shot HDR processed in Photomatix Pro, 20 sec shutter, 14mm, f22, ISO 100, ND8 neutral and ND4 grad filters. And a warm scarf. The two Dovercourt lighthouses are the most prominent features of the seafront. Erected by Trinity House in 1863, they were used until 1917, guiding ships around Landguard Point with their powerful gas lamps. See more of my work at Dan Biggins Photography.

  • A re visit today to the shipwrecked sailing vessel, “Pisces Star” that came aground over ten years ago near the Lighthouse at Carpenters Rocks, Limestone Coast, South Australia. Extremely low tide today and great sky’s allowed for some panorama sets with an old tripod sitting in salt water…. Canon 400D – 18-55 with CIR Polarising lens. 5 shot set stitched in Photoshop CS3.

  • Byron Bay Midnight Ocean Rocks © / Vicki Ferrari The most easterly point in Australia! Byron Bay Moonlight Series / Byron Bay Moon © AS IS / Byron Bay Moon ©— This shot is AS IS (bar the signature) and was taken looking down from the lighthouse (tourist area), into the ocean – quite an angle to the tripod! This was as wide as I could get it, considering the angle! See below for more information. Please excuse me for being lazy by writing all of this in one description. It will fit with all the photographs in this series. These images were taken at Byron Bay Lighthouse, New South Wales, Australia back in 2004. The photographs were shot at night, on a full moon, close to midnight, which is why you can see stars in the sky, a passing ship has its light on, and it also explains the lack of bright reflection on the surface of the ocean. The experimental portraits were taken firing my Sunpak 4500DX flash (handheld), often over and over. Where there are two people (I have deliberately blurred the other person’s face, as a courtesy!) in the image, one of them being me, we had to sit very, very still (difficult for me to do!!) – not smiling (or talking, again hard to do!) as to hold the same smile for an extended period of time can be difficult and if you move your mouth, you get blur. Of course, this explains why those old nostalgic portraits from yesteryear tend to make you think the subjects weren’t that happy! I will also be doing some creative adjustments using Photoshop but will be including that information in the Technical Data. Hope you like this series! Mounted Print – Byron Bay Moon © / Technical Data / Nikon D70 / July 2004 / Close to Midnight / Tripod / Focal 92mm / F4.5 / 30second exposure / Original JPEG
