THE LAST WORKS (CLIKC FOR VIEW)

  • Protecting Angel
    by Helena Nelson-Reed

    US$4.16–US$95.00

Watercolor on board Angels! Pure and perfect, the luminous intermediaries between divine and earthly dimensions; recipients of and serving divine will. The spectrum of color in her wings represents a single, concentrated beam of white light entering a prism, and emerging from the opposite side in a rainbow of cascading colors. In just this way, messenger angels receive direct transmissions of resplendent Truth, communicating this Light in myriad languages to all sentient beings. I was in a very positive mood when I painted this one, during a quiet phase when all was well in my own little world. A few months later my dad’s health began its last decline and indications signaled his remaining time was limited. I could almost see ( and certainly sensed ) his life aura fading away during this period, and with it the spirit that was him. During and after that there were some changes in my paintings that only I am privy to. Sometimes, looking back over my work, I recall what was happening in the world and my personal life during the period they were created. Colors and subject matter vary but I recognize the reoccurring patterns. Maybe this is a good reason for us to document our work, so that years later we can remember what would otherwise be forgotten. Here is the birth of a child, there the year of betrayal by a close freind. The winter of deep snow and many storms, a brillant spring, an attack on one’s country, the death of a loved one. Large and small the memories linger, rich and full. The subject matter is irrelevant because on this level the language of imagery is our individual soul -speak. Only the creatrix / creator of these works can summon up these stories from the created material, memories and the emotions they evoke, choosing to share them or not. A powerful medicine, its the artist’s right and choice whether to share this hidden medicine, and with whom…or to keep it silent. May all hearts and minds unfurl, open and prepare to receive and embrace the angel’s message. May we all allow its grace to permeate and saturate both individual and our collective being with eternal, pure light. Like a precious, faceted gem and its sparkle, may humanity become one in the intention and manifestation of unified harmony with one another, earth, and all that dwells upon her. • Full view please :) Once again Sally Omar has written a beautiful poem to accompany this image. Check it out After All We’ve Been Through girlinthestars my favourite RB poet and RB friend, also wrote an amazing poem for this piece. Here is After All We’ve Been Through: I listened to advice / And so, I am here alone / Lying in a creaking boat of hope / As bitty holes let / Our tragedy seep in / And I start sinking again I have tried to convince myself / That, yes / Yes / This is right / We should not be together / Their counsel for me to let you go / Is for something I surely don’t see / And yet they know But then why? Why is there an aching so deep / That any task needs / Absolute relevance to my existence / Or else I don’t even care Why is there a picture in my mind / Of a summer’s day / And no matter how hard I try / You are there with me / You are squinting in the sun / You tell me things that I believe / And the very thought of it / Encompasses my body so much / I feel I have lived it And when I open a book / That is supposed to engage me / Why do you gently land upon the page / In disguise of a butterfly / And I follow you / To a vast field / That smells of rain / A nostalgic scent of innocence / And life / And everything I want / Everything I hoped for / Begins to evolve in it all / And it always leads me back to you / This tightening in my chest / Protesting / After all we’ve been through The drenching sun upon the crack of my ceiling / Love is not perfect, it’s a perfect feeling I want them to tell me what is so fantastic / About this life I am living now I want them to fill that barren wall / Or at least putty the holes in I want them to call me at midnight / And make everything ok I want them to sew up that dress that I tore / Like an invalid in the loss of us But most of all I just want you And that’s the least of what they can do ..::Stock Photo Credit::.. / Dancers / Hallway / Background / Butterflies If you like this, please check out: / / /

  • Persephone
    by cinquain

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Original Creation Date: March 7th, 2006 The title: / Persephone, the Greek Goddess Persephone is the goddess of the underworld in Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, goddess of the harvest. Persephone was such a beautiful young woman that everyone loved her, even Hades wanted her for himself. One day, when she was collecting flowers on the plain of Enna, the earth suddenly opened and Hades rose up from the gap and abducted her. None but Zeus, and the all-seeing sun, Helios, had noticed it. Broken-hearted, Demeter wandered the earth, looking for her daughter until Helios revealed what had happened. Demeter was so angry that she withdrew herself in loneliness, and the earth ceased to be fertile. Knowing this could not continue much longer, Zeus sent Hermes down to Hades to make him release Persephone. Hades grudgingly agreed, but before she went back he gave Persephone a pomegranate (or the seeds of a pomegranate, according to some sources). When she later ate of it, it bound her to underworld forever and she had to stay there one-third of the year. The other months she stayed with her mother. When Persephone was in Hades, Demeter refused to let anything grow and winter began. This myth is a symbol of the budding and dying of nature. In the Eleusinian mysteries, this happening was celebrated in honor of Demeter and Persephone, who was known in this cult as Kore. • In Quiet Light
    by Foxfires

    US$3.99–US$91.20

In quiet light, a golden glow / lasting a hundred perfect heartbeats… Artist’s notes: I have had the wonderful chance of seeing herons actually sunning themselves like this. In fact, there was one day that absolutely struck me with awe about the playfullness of these birds. I was working with a sheetrock crew, and the house we were at was on the banks of the Columbia river. We’d had a series of strange weather incidents in the valley, all of which flooded the river, and actually made a huge mess of it with countless trees/logs, branches, etc. being swept down the mountains and into the water. So for a couple of days, there was an endless log jam floating down the river. I was taking a break at the house during one of those days, and noticed herons standing on the logs floating down the river. They had their wings held out like in my picture above, and they were facing the sun. They would float down just so far, then turn and fly back up river. Next thing you know…here they’d come again… on a new log. All day long these herons kept repeating that cycle, catching rides on the logs while they could…and sunning themselves in the process. I thought that was so interesting and cool. Plus, I love herons anyway…so, it just seemed fitting to add one to this piece. :) (Original, 11×17 300dpi) / FULL VIEW RECOMMENDED* —-—- Stock Credits: model: mjranum-stock http://mjranum-stock.deviantart.com/art/Little-Black-Goth-5-59785430 / Boat and water: sxc.hu http://www.sxc.hu/photo/937674 / wing brushes: faeth-design http://faeth-design.deviantart.com/art/Wing-Brush-74055731 / textures: my own ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires / My artwork and photos do not belong to the public domain
