  • Eilean Donan Castle one of the Iconic Scottish Castles was just a magic place to visit and photograph. I spent close to 9 hours taking in the surrounds, the atmosphere and the serenity and of course the odd photo or two. Here is one of my favourites, I really like the balance of light and the reflections. This was the 3rd last photo I took during this 9 hour period, and goes to show that patience can pay off. All money raised with the sale of my works until November goes towards the Steven T. Hill Stroke Foundation. • Taken on Scenic Drive. Carmel, California. November, 2007. There’s an interesting story behind this photograph, and #244, “Scenic & 8th. I was in a local camera store in Carmel, the manager of the store was telling me my camera was a toy because it wasn’t a high priced SLR, like he seels in the store. Obviously this annoyed me because i knew what my camera was capable of doing. So I left the store, walked down toward the beach, saw these Cypress trees, and took these shots in about five minutes. / I then walked back up to the camera store, and showed them to the manager, and the staff. They were impressed with the quality of the images. / I love my camera! I’m using the Panasonic Lumix FZ-50 That is what I used to take almost all the photographs in my portfolio. I’m satisfied with the performance of that camera. The images speak for themselves.

  • On this bridge as a boy scout I saw a ghost, from then it became special, almost ethereal in my eyes. The sight of such an unexplained event inspires and triggers the imagination of a young boy to life. I still look at this bridge and wonder which realm the spirit came from and what secrets are held in every arch and brick of this unique structure. In the soft early morning light, the reflections shimmer on the water like ripples through time, stirring the souls of those who have passed over the bridge, and passed across dimensions. This is not just a bridge over a piece of water it is a bridge which spans time, space and maybe spirituality, to me it is the bridge of faith and belief, a bridge of discovery and imagination, a bridge of light and life, a true contender for the most beautiful bridge in the world. To me it is already a winner, it moved and inspired me it helped to make me what I am today, what I believe and what I feel. Alance Bridge this is my entry as the most Beautiful Bridge in the world.

  • Calligraphy (from Greek κάλλος kallos “beauty” + γραφή graphẽ “writing”) is a type of visual art. It is often called the art of writing (Mediavilla 1996: 17). A contemporary definition of calligraphic practice is “the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner” (Mediavilla 1996: 18). The story of writing is one of aesthetic evolution framed within the technical skills, transmission speed(s) and materials limitations of a person, time and place (Diringer 1968: 441). A style of writing is described as a script, hand or alphabet (Fraser & Kwiatkowski 2006; Johnston 1909: Plate 6). Nikon D50 / Nikkor 70-300 VR

Not long ago, mankind nearly destroyed this land with warfare. But nature has found an ingenious way to rejuvenate this land, almost as if by miracle. This Eden is Plitvice Lakes National Park, the oldest national park in Europe, located in Croatia’s Dinaric Mountains. Plundered during the Balkan War in the early 1990’s, Plitvice owes its new existence to a type of limestone called travertine, which has the ability to grow quickly and continuously, creating new pools and barriers, water slides, and cascades. There are 16 falling lakes arranged in breathtaking terraces, connected by countless waterfalls and rapids. Underneath the Dinaric Mountains, rainwater gathers and rushes through subterranean caverns, drawing lime from the stone. Here, stalactites hang and species dwell that are so rare and strange they defy the imagination.

  • Just another day …...... Rota Island – August 2009 / straight out of the camera / Life on this island is friendly and unhurried and the hospitality is as unforgettable as the magical sunsets. Rota Island is a natural playground with around 3000 inhabitants and is known by many to be Micronesia’s best-kept secret / Rota (Chamoru: Luta) also known as the “peaceful island”, is the southernmost island of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the second southernmost of the Marianas Archipelago. It lies approximately 40 miles north-northeast of the United States territory of Guam. Songsong village is the largest and most populated followed by Sinapalo village (Sinapalu). In 1521, the first European to see Rota, was the lookout on Magellan’s ship Victoria, Lope Navarro. However, Magellan’s Armada of three ships didn’t stop until they reached Guam, so the first European to arrive in Rota (in 1524), was Spanish navigator Juan Sebastian Elcano, who annexed it together with the rest of the Marianas Archipelago on behalf of the Crown of Spain. Rota has diverse flora and fauna.. / Wikipedia ©2009/2010 Globalphotos All rights reserved. / All photographs, text and images by Globalphotos are the exclusive property of Globalphotos – protected under Australian and international copyright laws. / These images may not be reproduced, copied or manipulated without written permission. / No use for Public Domain. / Use of any image for another photographic concept or illustration is a violation of copyright.
