  • I have a little fascination going on that is keeping me occupied. The channel delineators in the bay at Port Melbourne. They’re very hard to detect in the day time, but, at night there is an extravagant yet subtle light show that goes on. I managed to catch the lights for a second or two….:D

  • This intimate, bright yet dark, static yet flowing, autumn themed image was made in Baxter State Park, Maine, USA in October 2006. I like the contrast of the flowing water beneath the still branches, the pop of color from the remaining birch leaves, and the juxtaposition of the branch atop the stream in tone and color! /

  • “time for tea” / my sweet twin breathed to me / we’ll hide inside our box / with tiny lights and tiny locks / safe from the disdain / that causes our pain / oh sweet sister / stay with me / for all eternity / ” time for tea” / my sweet twin whispered to me / we’ll hide inside our box…forever….. / Bridgett Ferguson /

  • I was intending to capture the light trails from the double decker bus all the way through the image – but my timing was a little off – I perhaps should have gone for a small aperture/longer shutter speed. Still, I like the effect of it ending in the middle of nowhere – it gives me the impression of “Back to the Future” – but in a double decker!

  • I do. And everything she symbolizes – the familiar sights and sounds, the period of our lives embedded in long term memory with our mothers, sisters, aunties and neighbors in it, the uniform sound of a sewing machine intertwined with casual chitchat. I still remember those gentle hands, gliding skillfully over soft materials, more than capable of turning a piece of fabric into lovable garments. Even my first girlfriend, the sweetest of souls, from a family of many, used to make clothes for herself, in patterns and colors she desired, as tight as I could wish, to perfectly fit the young man’s eye. Nowadays, the skill has migrated to distant lands, in search of a new pair of hands, not necessarily gentler, certainly cheaper. Time flies. We are left to do what people whose expiry date is fast approaching do – recycle the recollection of the good old days, the age when we were young and good looking. Now, we are only good looking. Such is life.

  • Dangerous Days was the original name of the screenplay and film, Blade Runner. An interpretation of the city view, depicting the onset of decay and police omnipresence—juxtaposed with the increase in decadence as the city inhabitants seek solace in pleasure. Blade Runner is one of my favourite movies of all time, and the book is another favourite, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? On a similar theme: Dangerous Days II Dangerous Days: and Nexus 6

  • A mystical and magical creature said to build its nest in the mountains and line it with gold and attributed as an attribute of understanding the relationship between psychic energy and cosmic force, as well as being the guardian to the pathway to spiritual enlightenment. This solar hybrid creature, combines the head, claws and wings of an eagle with the body of a lion, symbolizing rulership of air and land and together making a double emblem of the Sun’s power and usually shown next to a ‘tree of life’ or similar symbol as the guardian of the sun and seasons. / The Griffin has been a forceful motif since the second millineum BCE in western Asia, later in the Middle East, Greece and eventually Europe. It was a Hebrew symbol of Persia, had demonic significance in Assyria, but seems in Crete to have played a protective role in palace decoration. In Greece, where the griffin was sacred to Apollo, to Athene as wisdom and to Nemesis as retribution, legend said they guarded the gold of India and of the Scythians. In early Christianity iconography the griffin was used to symbolize the forces of persecution, vengeance or hindrance. But from the 14th century it emerges as an emblem of the dual nature of Christ – human and divine – and of courageous vigilance, which was its usual meaning in heraldry.
