Hello. / Tonight I hung out with some friends who were out Parkour -ing it up on the streets of Reading. / And I had my camera with me, but rather than taking boring pictures of people jumping about like loons, I decided to play around with some more light painting. I then taught my friends what it was all about; here are the results. ALL UNEDITED apart from cropping Gareth Lieske / Alan Hope / Lightning Attack, apparantly / I sucked at this / lol BUMMING! Yes, my drawing with torches sucks! / Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit / Guitar… or not / So yes, from tonights experience, I have learned to try not to suck so bad when drawing. / We’re planning on going somewhere much darker, and use a maglight rather than the torch in my phone.

Night photography introduces new challenges, low light levels make exposure difficult, harsh lights add reflections, the slow shutter speeds means difficulty in steadying the camera. Often night scenes lack the details needed to give depth to a photo so try adding a distinctive foreground object to give the shot some depth Night guard was shot with a Nikon D2H 14mm lens EI200 30sec f4.0 manual settings on tripod / Mounting the camera on a tripod usually eliminates the shakiness common to slow shutter speeds. Without a tripod brace yourself and experiment. Try holding the camera on a fencpost or wall for support. Use a remote shutter release to reduce vibration. / Compensating for bright lights in the scene will make for better exposures. Bright lights shining in the camera will fool your light meter so you may need to underexpose. Lightning shot with Nikon D2h 14mm lens EI400 4 sec. f5.6 aperture priority, minus 1.7 stops / When metering any night time scene remember that your light meter is trying to make everything 18% grey. So without exposure compensation the black night sky may look grey. To compensate I usually do a test of under exposures to find one I like. Shoot the scene at 1, 2 and 3 full stops under exposure then check the histograms or previews. / When shooting in automatic or program modes your camera will tend to choose wide open apertures. These large f stops reduce the resolution of many lenses so you might want to use manual modes. Shooting at f5.0-f11 will add sharpness and increase depth of field Special effects / Time exposures with action, A 1-2 second exposure during a fireworks grand finale will capture some rockets trailing skywards while other are exploding at elevation. Riverside fireworks was shot with a Nikon D2H 70mm lens EI200 1 sec f5.0 aperture priority, minus 1.3 stops / / Shooting over water adds the reflection of the rockets’ red glare. Zooming in during the exposure. / Boom was shot with a Nikon D2H 35-70mm lens EI400 1 sec f5.0 aperture priority, minus 1.3 stops zoomed in during exposure / Remember to stabilize your camera and experiment, make many exposures and check your results.

this is a wonderful treat. to be a featured artist in studio lighting. and is wonderful to have today as i am featuring each of my models this week. and the one i worked most with lighting techniques on is the model co, who is our feature model foe today and tomorrow.in “soft eyes and lips” she sat with me to work with glass and Vaseline.in the “up in smoke” series she sat for me creating mood with lights for a more moody and vintage feel.and in “a madonna” she helped me by playing with rope, make up and lights to bring out certain elements, in “a madonna entwined” she helped me by holding up the rope to get the shadows and highlights on the ropes twine. and on the “a madonna fit to be tied” she helped me by us both trying our hardest for the photo to look modern, almost plastic in feel, rather than an image of questionable nature. thank you studio lighting! and thanks to co, mm, and kb for all their efforts!!!!

today your group gave me the honor of being a featured artist. i have to say i choked up at the sight. to take my works from chappel photo and from earhart chappel. showed me so much, as an artist and a woman. / penelope my babe was the first in the feature. my love my reason.to see her on the grass with her fairy wings in delight..took me away.she is my butterfly and i have said for so long she should be free to fly.that pic at the start held such meaning for me. / i do know i submitted the photos, and my chappel photo pics were entered as i could not figure out, the cap on my earhart chappel colab site..i am not good on the computer! / but seeing all the photos grouped today. i picked each one for a reason.but somewhere along the line.instead of showing how i developed as a photographer on rb form the past (soon it will be a year). it showed me more of me looking in at my life over the last year. / from the hotel room when i realized my marriage was falling apart / to nyc rocky start, where the image of musical instruments caught my eye, and when the pic was uploaded there in frame was the reflection of the city..not my plan,just a pic, i took while shopping for a friend. / to costa ricas beauty a place i have always found inner peace and clarity. / to cross to bear where i left alone for a weekend drive in search of finding peace, and found it amongst the graves.(i admit not the most happy sight) but something i obsessed over for my lost weekend. / to angle always at play my p my love my baby blue my everything / these photos show the breakdown of 2 years in my life. each haveing a meaning to me far beyond what is seen. yet i picked them randomly. / the pics i picked form earhart chappel / i can clearly state why for each for my work in hair, make up ,wardrobe ,lighting, editing and photography / 2 are works for a breast cancer series i am working on, and they seemed to fit, as my point for the series is about how it touches all women in one way or another,age race class …we are all women, we all have a fear , a friend, a relative, someone that we know at some point in our lives that it effects. hence the jeans as they are something most of us have and feel comfort in at least one pair.(and i wanted to show strength in women feeling comfortable in their body’s) / screaming snake was a piece with a wonderfully talented model who’s emotions scream in the photos..with screaming snake and in primal scream. / yakusa reclined was for my lighting for the shot , as i was so happy the way it came out. / up in smoke (the series)the use of light effects to shape a mood. and changing model co to be a vintage interview style of shots *(she is wearing a wig in this to turn her into a brunette, i did the same in primal scream a pink wig in that series) / to the photo of slivering snake, where mood and lighting and make up created a wonderful effect on her back / i did hair make up wardrobe for all of them..but i even see here. / from “the hotel room” to the last photos in the feature “slivering back”,to “screaming snake” to “primal scream”, there is a vast difference, the mood of my photos. / looking at them quickly it might look to you i have become “bitter” as clearly seen on the photos without the use of word. / but if you take them a different way. you can see the transition / growth in my works, my attention to detail and doing hair, make up , wardrobe and lights . fav lighting would have to be the up in smoke series i did with model co. fav costume design mother earth and pride series as i starting designing clothing again fav wardrobe would be a tie for my pin up pieces with model co,and the yakusa;s series with kb fav hair. ohh again so hard to choose “fit and feel” + “isis” with extensions, and my period hair designs and punk looks with multi hair pieces at once.hair is soo fun! fav make up! of course the body of the snake/dragon on kb .on her front wrapping around her to the back and then to her shoulder.it took alot of time but was so worth it for me and i think her too! fav series! does no comment i plead the fifth world wide count?i guess not..so to answer and to tell the truth…i have seen what i have done and how i have expanded and grown , but i do not think at this point. that i have a fav series. as i have seen my mistakes, and i sill need to work on them. so i guess i can say with out a doubt i am still in the wip (work in progress) phase… and i have no fav, because of ME, i need to grow and learn more.to be able to create a whole series, with out mistakes. / “up in smoke” if you forced me to say one series. as i feel i excelled at the lighting, hair, make up. but my screw up i feel was wardrobe, my choice for it. and i think with a different outfit would have really punched the mood up even more. fav artist on rb fallen rose media for her fashion ,paul v for his creativity( as he constantly keeps you guessing what will be next) and skill, l koren’s works her style and captures of era’s long past, drink me alice for her support and kind words,and in the way of her being so positive during/handling change, and the group vintage and gorgeous, who’s members constantly inspire me, and of course to “the woman photographer” (as well as the sisterhood).groups that are for women photographers, for their lovely and constant support. and to jo o’brian a model and photographer who amazes me infront of the camera and behind she she puts in 110% every time in both.i am trying to cut down here.so i will end on a note such as this red bubble and its community of artists, as signing in is like a breath of fresh air, allowing me to be positive and to feel good. you all have pulled my esteem up so far, and so high from where it was to where it is today and i thank you, all of you on rb for that, you have been as an outlet of sorts for me through my art.., rb is place in this world i feel free.thank you. / sincerely / tara chappel / www.redbubble.com/people/earhertchappel / www.redbubble.com/people/chappelphoto / i am a wip (work in progress) for now.but not for long! Hello there. I haven’t really been very creative of late, which has been pretty shit; been having mental problems and life trauma, but its pretty okay right now. But yes, Im back baby! Back with my camera, reunited and uploading onto RB. It’s all good! Yesterday, I effed around with some light painting, and I got this result. / cropped / And today, well tonight, I done some more. In Ireland at this time of year it is still dark at 7.45am and the light fades about 4.30pm so that you have to use lights to do every’day’ tasks. Around the 12th of December I get impatient for the 21st the Winter Solistice when the days turn around again. The shorter days make me more tired. I often wonder what it was like for the celt or nomadic tribes linked to the light and closer to natures rythym. We we’re at the lighting up of ‘Santaville’ in our village recently (switching on the christmas lights in this cottage & its garden plus Santa) – I should say that the owner Mr Mac starts putting up the christmas lights before Halloween and some of them do not come down. I’ll try get a good photo of it this year the electric glow can be seen for miles around and two years ago they tripped the grid in the local area when the lights went on. Anyway the local who turned on the lights mentioned ancient times where they used to try and light up the dark nights and the link to christmas lights. It mademe wondered about the commercialism of christmas and the hustle and bustle is it just a distraction technique from the dark cold days – belief systems aside. Roisin

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas filled with all the blessings of God. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, remember the love that God had for us. God gave us the greatest gift of all, his son, who was born in a manager, died for our sins on that old rugged cross, arose on the third day and is now at the right hand of the father. It is the will of God that no not one should perish, but that all should have eternal life. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. We must be born again to enter into the kingdom of heaven. We have to come to Jesus and admit that we are a sinner, repent of our sins and ask him to come into our heart and forgive us of our sins. Let your life be a light to someone that they may see the love of Christ in you. / In my profession as a Funeral Director my first thought when someone passes away is that I hope that they were a born again Christian. They will spend eternity in heaven. This is one of the greatest comforts a family can have. If they are also born again they know that they will see their loved one again someday. We live in a day and time where God is being taken out of everything. We need to take a stand for what is right. It is not Happy Holidays, but Merry Christmas. It is not a Family Tree, but a Christmas tree. Don’t let them take down the manager scenes and the Ten Commandments. There was even an article today in one of the newspapers in our state that State Employees cannot receive a Christmas card from someone on the job. I don’t know what our leaders are thinking. / MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES!!!
