Surrealistic Digital Art / / “Let there be light” is an English translation of the Hebrew יְהִי אוֹר (yehiy ‘or). Other translations of the same phrase include the Latin phrase fiat lux, and the Greek phrase γενηθήτω φώς (or genēthētō phōs). The phrase is often used for its metaphorical meaning of dispelling ignorance. The phrase comes from the third verse of the book of Genesis in the King James Bible: 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. / 1:2 – And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. / 1:3 – And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. / 1:4 – And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. / / / / Pair with… / / / / / MCN: CCB37-A1E56-16AAA / / © Imber 2007. Another ratty Infrared photo shot with a battered old Olympus OM1 while zooming around in a little zodiac in the frozen oceans of the Antarctic Peninsular. Another mysterious something captured in the clear blue sky and found later on the negative. Not going to put in the big rant this time. But I do believe that there are signs of the gods all around us should we choose to just open ourselves to them. Could this be one of them? Who knows but its certinally a strange thing to find hovering about in the sky and I for one am open to alternative explainations of what it may be or might symbolize….....:)
The lighthouse stands alone. / It leads a solitary existence whose purpose is to shine light into dark places. No two lighthouses will ever stand together….for then neither would show their true light to the world. They require space and distance to do their best work. So they spread their light across the land, and across the ocean, steadfast and courageous, guiding, inspiring, never knowing who might be touched by their radiance, always seemingly alone. Yet imagine – what if they could connect with the energy of another lighthouse in a distant place, and their combined power and light create a previously unknown magic to embrace the Earth with force and compassion. While their feet remain firmly planted on their homeground, it is only the space between them that allows the healing light to travel back and forth across expanse and time so that it can be seen and felt by all. Would the Earth itself feel this web of illumination? There must be darkness for the true beauty of light to be appreciated, there must be space for the true nature of love to shine. / ... / .. / . / (Thanks to Kryon for inspiration) PLEASE view larger for best effects…. :-))

The main stencil image is one layer of the four layer stencil I created in early 2008 inspired by my interest in fashion photography. ‘Snow and Umbrella’ is 1 of 3, utilising the same same stencil and composition of works I’ve posted on Red Bubble at the moment. The other is ‘Rain Birds’ and ‘Umbrella and Rain’.

Not my normal photography, but loved the result… As a favorite garden flower of antiquity, the lily was fabled to have sprung from the milk of the Greek goddess Hera and was linked to fecundity not only in Greece but also in Egypt and the Middle East generally, where it was a popular decorative motif. The only white lily that bloomed here in Washington, late this summer, shot as is.
LITHUANIA, VILNIUS CLICK FOR VIEW or COMMENT Early history / Historian Romas Batūra identifies the city with Voruta, one of the castles of Mindaugas, crowned in 1253 as King of Lithuania. The city was first mentioned in written sources in 1323, when the Letters of Grand Duke Gediminas were sent to German cities inviting Germans and members of the Jewish community to settle in the capital city, as well as to Pope John XXII. These letters contain the first unambiguous reference to Vilnius as the capital; Old Trakai Castle had been the earlier base for the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. According to legend, Gediminas dreamt of an iron wolf howling on a hilltop and consulted a pagan priest for its interpretation. He was told: “What is destined for the ruler and the State of Lithuania, is thus: the Iron Wolf represents a castle and a city which will be established by you on this site. This city will be the capital of the Lithuanian lands and the dwelling of their rulers, and the glory of their deeds shall echo throughout the world”.[5] The location offered practical advantages: it lay within the Lithuanian heartland at the confluence of two navigable rivers, surrounded by forests and wetlands that were difficult to penetrate. The duchy had been subject to intrusions by the Teutonic Knights.[6] Lithuanian territories over time / [edit]Grand Duchy of Lithuania / Gediminas expanded the Grand Duchy through warfare along with strategic alliances and marriages. At its height it covered the territory of modern-day Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Transnistria, and portions of modern-day Poland and Russia. His grandchildren Vytautas the Great and Jogaila, however, fought civil wars. During the Lithuanian Civil War of 1389–1392, Vytautas besieged and razed the city in an attempt to wrest control from Jogaila. The two later settled their differences; after a series of treaties culminating in the 1569 Union of Lublin, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was formed. The rulers of this federation held either or both of two titles: Grand Duke of Lithuania or King of Poland. In 1387, Jogaila granted Magdeburg rights to the city.
