  • Despite the eerie effect of interstellar high-speed flying, this is an Australian native plant known as a Yakka bush. / ... / Shot at waist level, staring into a perfectly spherical yakka, this can hurt the eyes: Walking into these long thin green blades would do severe retina damage. / ... / Probably the same effect as “going to light-speed” into the sun. #NOTE:# Known as Xanthorrhoea priessii, the Yakka plant is a grass-tree, also spelled yacka. To engage in Hard Yakka is a common phrase in the Australian lexicon. One of Australia’s most well-known brands of work clothing is entitled Hard Yakka. • Getting to know the stars is an important part of landscape photography. Using a compass and G.P.S I was able to pinpoint the South Celestial Star. Because of the rotation of the earth, using a six hour exposure gives the feeling of the stars trailing around this point. I used a 5 million candle power flashlight to illuminate the sand dune. Because of the massive size of the dune I had to climb an adjacent dune and paint the light on from there. • Something from the vault… another dandelion photo… I just keep discovering these, haha. There’s a gold mine of them on my hard drive. I don’t remember what I used as the background for this, but I edited the saturation to make the red really pop and it reminded me of star bursts. You know the candy, hehe… Enjoy!

  • We Want To Be Free
    by Erika .

other children live out there beyond the stars we see at night, beyond the planets we’ve named and comets that form our galaxy

He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed. ~ Einstein Do you know on every planet there are children too? I can’t speak to them but I know they exist ~ Lisa Humans are naturally curious. I have faith that one day we will meet these other children with eyes wide open…for we are still curious. I hope you all know what I mean when I say “them” in this piece. And I hope you know what I mean when I call ourselves “children.” Other pieces that form this puzzle in my mind: / Dianoia / The True Revolutionary
